Gaming Help with getting Xbox Live

hi guys, i'm planning to buy XBL to play black ops etc. online, but i have a second hand console, a large amount of space between the router and the xbox.

so does anyone have tips?

Use a laptop or PC and connection sharing, a power over ethernet kit or just buy the wireless adapter.
