ROM Hack Help using cheat engine to mod the play coins and step counter out of the home menu.

I followed this guide to try and remove them. https://axities.github.io/ But even though I did what they said to do in the cheat engine, those elements remained on my home menu. Same thing when Editing the offsets with a hex editor instead. In the cheat engine, since the guide said set the value to a real high number to remove a certain element, I set each to 9999. And in the hex editor I punched in those offsets to get pinged to the correct value and set each to 99 with still no luck. Any ideas?

I dont get why this is such a big issue? Just dont bother using them. Theres too many games that also check to see if those exist.

doesnt it just hide the icons from the home menu? Not mess with their functionality?

That im not sure of. I just dont really bother with those items. I havent used them much in a good while.
