Hi,

I’ve been having trouble with this for ages now and I don’t know what else to do, so I’m asking here for advice. I originally thought it might be a problem with PKSM (I use it all the time), as on boot it would hang on the black screen with PKSM’s blue icon for eternity until it crashed. I asked around with the good folks at Github, but nothing I tried seemed to fix it, and PKSM is not the only app to instantly die with the ARM9 data abort error on boot- TWLoader++ Updater does exactly the same thing, and the NTR Boot Selector too sometimes. I’ll provide the bug report I put on Github in case it can help:

PKSM abruptly stopped working along with NTR recently so I updated my N3DS to the latest firmware and Luma. I've read that the new Luma makes NTR incompatible, so that's fine, but PKSM just hangs on the initial black screen with the square blue icon in the centre of the screen until I turn the system off. Being online or offline makes no difference and have done multiple reinstalls using both the QR code (latest FBI version) and the cia. I apologise if this bug report is in the wrong place but I love this program and have used it for years and really want to get it back. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to 'PKSM'
  2. Click on 'PKSM'
  3. Hangs on boot screen (black with blue icon)
  4. No recourse except to turn off system
Expected behavior
I expected a clean install with internet connected to download the necessary assets then boot normally from then on.

Information about your environment

  • OS version: Latest (11.10 I think) and latest Luma (10.0.1 I think)
  • PKSM version: 7.0.1
  • Entrypoint: CIA direct install to Home Menu
I’ve determined that it is nothing to do with PKSM now (it runs exclusively on ARM11) so I’ve got no idea what else it could be. Any help would be amazing and much appreciated.

Thank you.

No dice :( I copied the boot.firm from the link to the root of my SD and everything is still crashing, same ARM9 data abort error. Thanks for trying though. I’m not sure what else I can do to fix it, but it’s impacting a lot of my apps :(

If I upload a few crash dumps, would someone be kind enough to tell me what they mean so I can attempt to fix this please? My 3DS has lost a lot of functionality and I desperately want to mend it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Never mind, fixed it myself. Proud moment lol. Just in case anyone else has this problem:

Copied everything off the card to computer, formatted the card with guiformat, wrote and verified the card with h2testw, then put everything back on. PKSM and my other apps work fine now except for NTR Boot Selector, but I believe that’s a Luma thing for now.

The contacts are there, and the device already has charge control circuitry, but you have to buy and solder the battery yourself.
