Hacking Help me understand the WOOD firmware..........

So I switched from R4iSDHC to R4i-Gold because when 1.4.1 rolled in the SDHC card was useless, then I heard about WOOD, and how it was a awesome Firmware that was created by users not a company, and would be updatable in the future Firmware releases...

So I bought R4iGold(CN) that used WOOD.

Well now that 1.4.2 came out R4iGold has abandoned support for there card and is focusing on there R4iGold-3DS card only and has updated that card for the 1.4.2 Firmware.

Well since Wood can be installed on the Regular R4iGold, am I correct in thinking / hoping that a fix will eventually come out by the makers of WOOD?

What am I missing?

The bootloader on that cart can't be updated. It will never be able to run on 1.4.2.

The team says they will release a patch for the old R4iGold card. The card definitely has as an updatable bootloader as well.

I had emailed the R4i-Gold (CN) Team, and received a response:

I have bought over 10 Regular R4i-Gold Revolution carts because of the Wood Firmware.

R4i Team: Currently we are still working on the patch for the old R4ids card(non-3DS), will let you know once release...

So the patch is coming hopefully? [Cross-your-fingers]

In the mean-time I am going to explore other Carts...

But even the R4i-SDHC Team said the same thing when the 1.4.1 came out and they never did... lol

They can update the bootloader, they did it for firmware 1.4.1. It's on their website.

Yeah i noticed they pulled off all pics and info regarding the original Gold Card, now its all 3DS.

I have bought over 20 and resold them to friends and family.

Today I got 5 more in the mail.
Maybe I can return them for the 3DS version, but funny thing is my site i get them from doesn't carry the 3DS branded card.
It labels the R4iGold Original Card to be compatible with ALL ds systems including 3DS, is this true? I dont have a 3DS so I cant test it.

Mind e-mailing me a copy of that, with headers? In gmail if you click the down arrow near the top-right of an e-mail and choose "show original" you'll get a plain-text ouput of the e-mail with headers.

What they say (brick risk) certainly does relate to what you and others have posted, so I guess the DSN one isn't updating. If they're not updating that one, I wonder if the R4iDS.CN decided not to as well.

The clone teams aren't exactly known for their dedication when problems like bricking updates can't be resolved easily.

They took notice of this and e-mailed me back stating the exchange thing was for people that bricked.
