Portrait of Ruin is a pretty infamous rom amongst flashcarts, and I'm curious to see how the new AKAIO 1.6RC handles it.

Here's one of the easiest ways to crash-test the game.
1: Visit the shop in the Castle. (Takes like 5 minutes from a new game)
2: Repeatedly exit/enter the shop screen, let the music change, let the music not change, alternate.
    3: See if it crashes.

Before on 1.5.1, this was capable of crashing the game, but on 1.6RC I've not been able to crash the game at all.
    I'm using a Sandisk 8GB microSD Class 6.

I'd appreciate if anyone would quickly try this out.

Class 2, and high capacity should be quite slow, and it doesn't crash? I'm impressed.

I've finished PoR soon after 1.5 got released, and haven't got any crash besides the one associated with buggy subweapons (crash immediately after you launch a subweapon, but only with certain subweapons and it happened like twice in 25 hours). MSD = 1GB Sandisk. Also this card couldn't run PoR on R4 SDHC without constant freezing ,so it's definitely a fix by AKAIO that made it work. IIRC to this day akaio remains the only card with this special fix implemented.

I've heard Team Cyclo look at the AKAIO sourcecode to help make their firmware, seeing as its open source.

    Any truth to that?

Actually my mistake, apparently it's not.
Acekard 2i is open source, not AKAIO

I doubt that since all cards are different concerning design and structure and AKAIO is closed source. As to the fix for PoR, it was made by yellow wood goblin for both the AKAIO and CycloDS (well yellow wood goblin made the code that makes it work. Normmatt and TC made the updates on their loaders with the code (Normmatt correct me if I'm wrong)). PoR should work with both cards without any crashes (I tested with the Cyclo and had 0 freezes on 3 different MicroSD cards with about 30 mins of game time per card (1GB Nokia, 2GB Sandisk, 8GB Kingston SDHC Class 4).
