I need help building my new gaming rig!

Budget: $100-$300

Games being played: Not too much... WoW, Runescape, Other major MMORPG's. Much like WoW

Please don't be harsh on my gaming preferences.

Please only Amazon and Newegg. Also just list every item you recommend and link under it.

Excluding: Case, Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse.

Thanks!

Jokes aside, are you planning on building this from scratch? If so you need to decide your case and your motherboard first, then work around that. No one here is gonna pick for you, you can look up various motherboards, and google them or ask around if anyone has ever used them for low-mid resource gaming. Once you got that down, you need to pick your CPU, GPU, memory, hard drive type, optical drive if you want one, fans, and anything else you need. You seemed to imply you already had a case? figure out what form factor it is so you get a motherboard that fits

edit: by the way, $300 is probably the minimum you will find for anything decent. If you already have a hard drive, that could save you some money.

$300 is a little too tight.

My advice is to work around components that satisfy WoW's system requirements and hope for the best.

$300 is really nothing for even the most modest gaming rig. Do you actually have another pc already? You say your $300 budget is excluding a case, mouse, keyboard and monitor. If you do you should cannibalize as much of your old pc as possible, RAM, HDD, optical drive maybe even the motherboard and CPU depending on what you have.

Since you want a PC a little on the gaming side and around $300, I think here is your best bet--

AMD Phenom II X2 560 Processor, Black Edition (HDZ560WFGMBOX)

http://www.amazon.co...ords=Amd+Phenom

Msi 760GM-P23 (FX) AM3+ 760G MATX

http://www.amazon.co...eywords=msi+am3

Kingston ValueRAM 2 GB (1x2 GB Module) 1333MHz DDR3 DIMM Desktop Memory KVR1333D3N9/2G

http://www.amazon.co...ds=ram+ddr3+2GB

MSI nVidia GeForce GT440 1GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low Profile PCI-Express Video Card N440GT-MD1GD3/LP

http://www.amazon.co...keywords=Nvidia

(I know that the nvidia 6 series is out but at this price point you cant get anything this decent)
Enjoy

Happy to help!
In future,if you think your cpu is becoming a little slow, underpowered for your needs, then
You can make your amd phenom II x2 processor into a quadcore one.....that is right!
Little known is the fact that the phenom dual core chips are made out of quad core waffers with one or two
Cores locked! You can unlock the two cores only if your motherboard supports the coreunlock feature!
