What’s up guys. Just need a bit of your help. To be honest, I can’t seem to understand the rumours, they vary accordingly with different websites.

It is possible for me to get it in May/June. But if not, I’d have to wait till like August. Because I don’t live in US for few personal reasons and my relatives are the ones who can get it for me. I am currently also in my education years so August would feel very late to me.

So quality difference makes me feel weird and I just wanted to know if this possibility is true and let me run games at 60 fps. When the 2DS and 3DS xl came after two years of 3DS, they didn’t have any quality difference though.

Please tell anything you know or any of your suspicions

    Thanks!!! :D

The last rumor from Bloomberg said that a "modest upgrade" is coming later this year. Probably fall to holiday. Meanwhile a cheaper "Switch lite" should be coming this summer. They also cautioned that something "more powerful" than "modest" is not in the works.

The idea should be that they need to replace/discontinue the current Switch with its inefficient 20 nm CPU that is getting harder to manufacture. Because its a replacement, most likely they are still going to target $300, so its not going to be some crazy luxury upgrade like Xbone to X, more like the 3DS -> New 3DS. I would expect choppy framerates to smooth out a bit, and dynamic resolution games should blur less often, that's about it. I wouldn't expect pristine 60 FPS fortnite or a 1080p screen or anything that would require basically double the power because that wouldn't come cheap.

Most modern phones and the iPad Pro is running fortnite at 60fps so it is possible, the switch hardware is slowly becoming outdated when compared to today modern devices ...

Devices that cost nearly 1 grand, yes. Mobile Fortnite also made more visual sacrifices so it could run passibly on lesser phones, you can see Digital Foundry for a comparison.

The newest most expensive mobile devices are running the mobile version of Fortnite at a (somewhat close to) 60fps experience, while the Switch is running a downgraded 30fps console/PC version of Fortnite, because the Switch has dedicated gaming hardware which is different than all-purpose mobile hardware. The mobile version has totally different, much simpler assets when compared to console/PC version. Here is an visual aid:

Here is Fortnite running on an Xbox One X:
    FFFA4B12-B659-41B1-BA8A-B39C0F07A1CC.

Here is Fortnite running on a Nintendo Switch:
    DB5858AA-8EAE-42B7-A0E4-F98C6BF3EB9B.

And here is the mobile version of Fortnite on an iPhone X:
    2EF6D239-7462-4C73-98F9-D0018E919A80.

Do you see the difference in the wood pieces? The mobile version of Fortnite has a completely different look, and draw distances are much, much shorter than the Switch. The Switch is still the more powerful platform, but because it runs the console version of Fortnite, it obviously can’t hit the 60fps mark and still maintain its graphical fidelity, so Epic Games opted for 30fps, which it mostly hits. But with Fortnite Switch, you can call it acceptable one day and the next day the game is damn unplayable, and one week later it’s absolutely perfect, so there’s no telling, but lately the game has been great on Switch.

Well from the original 3ds to the n3dsxl/n3dsxl there is a very slight difference that allows ps1 games like Crash Bandicoot and Final Fantasy 7 to run at 60fps with retro arch PCSX reARMed so there is a small chance Nintendo will probably add some 4K to docked mode and a processor that maybe will allow GameCube games to be emulated!
