The story is, I accidentally press update when launching a game on OFW (thinking it was a game update)
-> then the console won't boot if I choose "Boot OFW" in sxos menu
-> I tried geinuine boot -> it booted into OFW - but I don't know what it would cause to my console? Description says it will burn fuses something
-> I turned off my console again and try "boot OFW" again - still blackscreen
The question is, is it safe to use "genuine boot" to use my OFW or only stick with my emunand until SXOS is updated? I mainly play on OFW with my legit games
Edit: now I can only play on my sysnand OFW by booting "genuine boot", emunand is no longer working, but it may still work on Switch v1 (no mod chip)
Edit 2: SXOS updated to 3.1.0 and my problem solved, only one thing that my switch can't boot into emunand (which is FW10.2.0) if there's a gamecard in my gamecard slot

Yes, genuine boot is the best method to launch OFW.

Wait for 1 or 2 days to see if an update comes up if it doesn't then restore your backup

Yes, this is why genuine boot exists.
If TX won't release new SX OS and you don't have backup, you're screwed with booting CFW on sysnand until someone will release FW modification to modchip when Atmosphere supporting Mariko will release.

Even though he has a backup I think it will not work, because he "Boot Genuine" and theoretically burned fuses during the update ...

Still dont understand the difference between genuine boot and boot to OFW....... using the "normal boot to ofw" for my legit games on OFW and never had any problems (never touched "genuine boot") and still able to boot to CFW, no matter what firmware comes out (updating cfw to the newest is something different).

CFW ignores fuse check. If they will try to boot downgraded FW with genuine boot, then it won't boot because of fuse check, but still it will be possible to boot with Boot OFW.

Genuine boot bypasses modchip glitching. So it's like booting without modchip. Boot OFW doesn't bypass modchip, it uses custom bootloader.

It is "safe" in that it's not going to damage or brick your system. The fuses it's talking about exist to prevent you from downgrading your official firmware. Whenever you update your system and "genuine boot" it will burn a fuse(s) as a way of indicating what system firmware you've updated to. Then, if you ever try to downgrade, the system will know that you are trying to downgrade because the firmware version won't match the fuse count.

tl;dr If you used "genuine boot", you've already burned your fuses (which isn't a big deal, it just means you can't downgrade your official firmware). You may as well continue to use it, because your fuses are already burned (it won't make anything worse).

Why would you boot without modchip if you have it already installed since no one is banned for just using "custom bootloader" for avoiding fuses to be burnt, for using autorcm etc?

I mean, if you can preserve fuses..... why would you burn them on purpose?

To run ofw if FW is not supported by current CFW.

Afaik restoring DOES NOT affect fuses. So It's a safe option

Does that fuse burn make me unable to boot my emunand too? (which is on FW 10.2)

    — Posts automatically merged - Please don't double post! —

I thought boot Original FW is booting sysnand without CFW (but skip that fuse check) and genuine boot do the samething?
