Help getting a new desktop computer

So my computer died at today My dad bought it for me in 2004 and now I need a new one.Can Someone Reccomend me a good 600-900 dollar desktop computer.....my Dad Said He Would Take me To These Stores Wal-mart,Fry's Electronics,Best Buy,etc

Right Now Using My Wii -_- It's Ok But Cant Download Anything

for $600-900 you really should build it yourself, you can make a nice desktop for that much money.

if you feel like doing some simple instruction reading, you can easily put together a computer in about an hour

this is assuming you have your XP cd, and you can reuse optical drive (cheap anyways), monitor, mouse/keyboard

$600 -> $900, you have a wide variety to choose from .
you could check out NewEgg's DIY kits where they bundle parts and have a discount .

For $685, you get an i5-760, 2x2GB RAM, 1TB HDD, and a 700W PSU . case looks okay, but consider reading reviews . and finally, you can probably add a decent/average GPU for under $150 and an Optical Drive.
