Noob to the wii softmodding here, kinda. I modded my Wii about a year ago following mauifrog's easy guide, and haven't updated cIOS files since.
Seems like I should get things fixed up though. So, I installed ModMii and had it run my syscheck.csv file, and then selected to download the needed files for updating and generate a guide. Result : 5 of the 18 files it downloaded are reported as invalid ... apparently due to an .md5 mismatch. Again, ModMii did download the files, but it is reporting them as invalid.

Should I go ahead and install these "invalid" .wads? (I don't think so) I've tried re-downloading repeatedly as recommended by ModMii, to the same result. I also tried obtaining the cIOS files independently, but that seems more problematic. For example, the d2x pack I got here is set up to correspond with ModMii folders called "modules" and "source", and no obvious .wad files, but I just got the latest version of ModMill and I don't see these folders. (Perhaps I need to run other features of ModMii before these folders get generated?)

What am I missing here? Is there some link in the chain that I'm missing before ModMii will work on my outdated softmod?

if it helps, here's a copy of my syscheck.csv, followed by the list of updates ModMii says I need (and identifying those it downloaded but is calling invalid)

try a fresh installation of ModMii v4.7.6
try performing a windows update

Thanks. I keep windows updated. Reinstalled ModMii, Didn't change anything though. I also tried downloading one of the "invalid" cIOS wads manually -- page 4, 249d2x56 - and when it downloaded the file it again reported it as invalid, for failing .md5 verification.

If it matters, the contents of C:\ModMii as installed on my system (after running the update function) are "COPY_TO_SD", "Support", and "Temp" folders, plus ModMii.exe. There are no "modules" or "source" folders.

I appreciate the help.

Unless there's a good reason not to, I'm just going to obtain the cIOS wads that ModMii has marked as invalid from another, trusted source.

u can do w/e u want install the cIOSs, but I'd still like to try fixing the problem your having :D

can u take a screenshot of modmii actually building the cIOSs? Does it say X files copies or something like that?

Hey, thanks for following up! You're alright, XFLak. I can't get back into it that deep right now ... busy with daughter's nightly King of the Hill, bathtime, and tuck-in ritual. I'll edit this post later with some screengrabs. WHenever you're back around, take a look. Thanks.

Edit:

Alright, done. I ran through the process a few times to cap a few shots from several points through the process. Since each cap came from a different repeat attempt, they're not necessarily sequential. The first 13 of the 18 files listed as needing updating go fine, then at #14 it goes haywire. Modmii wants to find a file called temphex.txt but there's no file of that name in the ModMii folder. The last screen shows the log. I do hope you can see the problem cuz I'd like to be able to use this app in the future. It's a wonderful thing you've made here.

Thanks! Let me know if there's any specific point in the process you'd need to see that I didn't cap here.

UPDATE:
I found 3 of the 5 needed cIOS wads from an external source and plugged them into the "COPY_TO_SD\WAD" folder and now only 2 are invalid. (see screencap linked below) The 2 remaining cIOS wads that ModMii wants me to use are both the "R" mod versions of Hermes v5.1's., i.e. cIOS202[60]-v5.1R and cIOS224[57]-v5.1R. UNfortunately, I can't seem to find these as standalone .wad files, and I'm a bit ignorant in the use of a .dol installer. (sorry, I did say I was mostly a noob)

How bad would it be if I just used the regular v5.1 versions of these???? What benefit is there in the Rodries mods?

Further update:

I went ahead with updating my cIOS files, using all those recommended by ModMii except for the v5.1R files mentioned above. Instead I used mauifrog's current versions for cIOS202[60] and cIOS224[57], which are built on Hermes v5.1. XFlak, whenever you check back please do let me know if you recognize the problem I'm having with ModMii, and also your opinion if I need to get the v5.1R versions or not. My syscheck now looks like this:

I believed your problem should be resolved in the next ModMii release.
If you can't wait and want your current version ModMii work, try to change your console code page default value from a foreign language to English. If you use Windows 7, here is how.
  1. Open cmd console
  2. Mouse right clicks on the title bar. See the drop down menu.
  3. You should see Defaults. Choose and click on it. A window is opened with several tabs.
  4. Click on Option tab
  5. Note the "Default Code Page" section with drop down menu. Open and select 437 OEM - United State.
  6. Click Ok to close.
Now re-do whatever you wish with ModMii. It should work without a problem.
XP doesn't have that allows you to change code page there. I am sure you can find in Google search for this capability by changing XP registry.

I believe the WAD files you are looking for may be obtained on the WiiFloWiki page here... http://wiiflowiki.com/Wiiflow#Downloads
