I await my m3 lite and passcard 3 from realhotstuff. In the meantime, I wanted to get the micro sd card set up and write roms to it.

Q. Do I have to perform the loader install (see below) before I can start writing roms to it?

Loader: (Installation steps)
=======
1. Put the file updategc.XXX or Updagcsd.xxx into the root directory of your CF/SD card.
2. Insert the cf/SD card into the slot of M3 adapter.
3. Boot the console with M3 adapter inserted.
4. A massage will appear to ask you to install or bypass the installation procedures. (press "start" to install, press "A" bypass)

No you don't....in general you don't really have to update the loader and instead just update the game manager so that it supports all the newest games. Updating loader will just give you the functionality updates from the m3 team. I suggest updating though to v30c (if you like nice big game icos) or v29 (if you don't) and just wait for the next big firmware update from m3 and just keep updating the software.

Great thanks. Came home today to find my m3 lite had arrived. I will play with this tonight.
