Some of you may have my topics lying around this forum. But I promise this will be my last one regarding help.

I have a 16g kingston sd card. It is completely converted to WBFS format and will be filled with games. It has a problem that will be mentioned later.

I also have a 2g sd card I use to install wads. The 2g card works great so there's no hassle with that one.

My wii is softmodded according to the guide on the stickies. Two lOSs are v16 right now because I can't download from ML (download cap [IMG]). My wii also has bootmii installed in boot2. So I can unbrick my Wii.

I am using Loadstructor/cLoader to load my games. My games currently consist of Mario Kart, New SM Bros., and Tales of Symphonia. They are all scrubbed. The loadstructor loads my games and there is no error with the gameplay. (Yaaaaay)

But here comes the most annoying problem in the world.

The games take around 50secs (Give or take 10) to load and half the time, it just downright "unable to initialize sd"'s on me. This is something I would like to get rid of.

I can't burn discs because I get error 1051 on NeoGamma, I can't connect my Wii to a hard Drive because my TV is in the living room, and I don't have a USB stick.

I could go get a USB loader for my SD card, but I'll only do that if I know theres a USB loader that could fix the loading delay. If anyone could post any solutions or ideas to just get rid of the delay altogether, that'd be great.

Thank you all beforehand and like I said, if I can't find a solution I'll man up and deal with the delay. :/

A SD card reads a lot slower than a USB 2.0 drive hence the load time [IMG]

read speed is a rate. like how fast your car can go. higher rate means you can get more done in the same amount of time. higher rate for your car means you can go from a to b faster. higher rate for read speed means you don't have to wait as long to read the same amount of data.

In other words. If you want faster loading, stop being cheap and get an External Hard drive. USB slots are faster than SD slots on the wii.

SD is faster, but USB is fast enough (and faster than disk), and USB is more practical and can hold more games

seek time is longer for a HDD because it has to physically spin and move to the correct location. Sd cards have no movement. once the hdd gets to the area to be read, the reading is faster.

so reading a bunch of smaller files/fragments from different locations may be faster on the sd card. reading large chunks of data that are not spread all over the place should be faster on the hdd.

Giant Pune definitely does a better job of explaining it, but you get the point. [IMG]

That data table posted means nothing. Write speed only affects how fast you can transfer a game to the SD card or USB hard drive from the computer. This is a one time thing so it is negligible. The only thing that matters when playing games is the Random Access Time, or seek time, as giantpune explains it.

If you are on a windows computer, you can easily navigate to: (Put your sd card in your comp first)

If anything, when you put in your SD card it should prompt you to format it.

Start Menu > Computer (Or "My Computer") > Locate your sd card > Right Click on it > select format.

So i bought a HDD (Iomega 500g), but when I try to convert it to WBFS, it gets some errors. I googled around and saw that I had to convert it to FAT32 first. Could anyone tell me how to play games from NTFS or convert NTFS to FAT32?

And DVD has worse seek time than all of them, so hopefully the games are optimised to not require too much random seeking,
