is it mandatory to have hdd when u mod a wii
No, but if you want to play backups, then you'll need an external hdd or a large SD card.
or an old wii or an usb memory stick or an usb dvd or any other usb mass storage device(eg mp3-player, ...)
Be careful what you say, Psyblade. Not all USB mass storage devices are supported. While most of the common hard drives and sticks will be recognized, I heard from at least two people that their MP3-player wasn't supported.
Other than that, I agree (and with previous poster). A hard drive isn't mandatory. An SD-card is.
then the usbstorage of the shit are outdated.
libogc's usbstorage can even open my usb card reader ...
Not all players support usb mass storage.
Eg Apple uses its own protocol to force ppl to use itunes and MS is trying the same with WMP.
But if you player does support UMS I doubt your chances are worse then with any other type of device.
Its not like cios compatibility is great in general.
TAKE NOTE: You are talking about sound formats. e.g. apple's OGG and Microsofts Windows media files WMF.
This has nothing to do with the way of storing.
Just format to fat32.
no im not, im talking about transfer protocols
google "Media Transfer Protocol" if you dont believe me that not everything uses UMS
btw apple does not even support ogg files
