    Hi all,

Brushing off the dust from my Wii in order to play Tiger Woods 12 The Masters (sorry for double post, admin feel free to delete the old thread) and I've been having nothing but trouble. I've mainly been using Configurable USB Loader 66, but had no luck with Neo Gamma R9 b47 or USB Loader GX 2.1 r1080 either.

    Here are all the details:

Wii is a first run unit running 4.1U.

Started by using ModMii to update everything.

Ran the IOS236 Installer v5 MOD.

Installed Priiloader with recommended hacks (Block Disc Updates, Block Online Updates, Replace Health Screen, Auto-Press A at Health Screen, Region-Free Everything, remove no copy save file protection, and Move Disc Channel).

Installed all the cIOS WADs - Here is the full list:

After that I used Wii Backup Manager v0.3.8 build 60 to copy my Tiger Woods 12 backup to 2 different NTFS formatted hard drives (both show up on the compatibility list 05E3 0702 and 152D 2336). Wii Backup Manager asked if I wanted to create a WBFS folder on each drive and of course I did. There is other data on the drives but plenty of room. I copied the backup over to each drive using the software. I also FAT32 formatted an 8GB SDHC card and transferred the backup over to that using the same software.

So time to get this to work. I plug in drive number 1 and boot up the Wii, go into the HBC and select Configurable USB Loader from my 1GB SD card.

ERROR - I get the "Device is not responding! Make sure USB Port 0 is used! ..."

I try the other hard drive - SAME ERROR.

I try changing the cIOS to all the other options, still no dice.

I reboot, load up Configurable USB Loader, swap out the 1GB SD for the 8GB SDHC and switch device to SD/SDHC.

ERROR - "Partition: Auto not found!" "Select a different Partition" "ERROR: No Partitions Found! (retr= -1)"

Time to try USB Loader GX 2.1 r1080

Not much to change here - it loads, it waits for hard drive, it errors out.

How about Neo Gamma R9 b47?

Boot it up, try to load WPFS from USB (no option for other file system) - pauses for a second then nothing, back to menu. Try the same with SD, not even a pause, just no action.

So something is obviously not working correctly here. I don't know enough about cIOSs etc to begin to know what is screwy but any thoughts or ideas would be very much appreciated. Thanks for the long read.

UPDATE - Some good info in this thread.

I installed FTPii (v0.21), WiiXplorer Channel (v11) and the MPlayerCE USBTest. With settings as described above all 3 failed.

    I then re-installed Waninkoko's cIOSX v21 (installed using IOS 236) with IOS 58 v6175 as a base.

After doing this I am seeing some mixed better results. Configurable USB Loader now sees one of my hard drives (still no dice in Neo Gamma or GX). FTPii also sees the drive but USBTest still fails and WiiXplorer kicks me out after not too long.

So I tried running 2 game backups from the drive using Configurable and both run - for between 5 and 20 minutes before the freeze with a sustained audio squeal.

Is this normal? Should I be having this much trouble? Is there a better base for 249 that I should be using?

Any other thoughts are much appreciated.

    UPDATE -

Also got the backup to load off the SDHC card by adding Configurable to the card instead of swapping cards. However the game also does the hang with squeal about 20 mins in.

    UPDATE -

I've now gone through just about every base for cIOS 249 I can find.

    I've installed Waninkoko cIOSx v21 with the following bases into 249 (installed all using 236): IOS 37 (v5662), 38 (v1123), 53 (v5662), 55 (v5662), 56 (v5661), 57 (v5918), 58 (v6175), 60 (v6714), 61 (v5661), 70 (v6687), 80 (v6913).

Of those ONLY base 58 can see my USB hard drive. And it won't play 30 minutes without freezing (tried 3 different backups).

I've also tried installing the v21 d2x3 versions. Neither the 56 or 57 base works - but again the 58 base works and allows me to see the hard drive - but then freezes.

I could really use some input here. I don't know what else to try.

    - can something that is not on 249/250 be causing an issue?

    - can there be something wrong with 236 (which I am using to install everything - though everything installs fine)?

    thx

I'm a follower here because i have the exact same problem .
For Neogamma+wbfs try cios 249 rev 17 or rev 19
I don't think the issue comes from installing wads using cios236
You should test detection in other apps like WiiXplorer, WiiMc, MplayerCE..
HBC can also see a HDD if it has wii apps on it
You should also try Sneek+DI to test if the HDD is detected in a virtual nand that you could download with modmii , thus eliminating your own nand and the problems it might have

    Thanks for the reply flo.

I have now tried over 20 different cIOSs.

As you suggested I tried 249/250 v17b, 249/250 v19 [37], 249/250 v19 [38], and 249/250 v19 [57]. All of these cIOSs have the same exact results. They find the USB (in this case an 8GB FAT32 thumb drive) in both FTPii and in HBC. However none of them see the USB in COnfigurable, in USB Loader DX, in Neo Gamma, or in MPlayerCE USBTest.

    I have the exact same results with cIOS 249 v21 [56] / cIOS 250 v21 [57], and 249 v21 d2x4b1 [56] / 249 v21 d2x4b1 [57].

It is only with cIOS 249/250 v21 [58] or cIOS 249/250 v21 d2x4b1 [58] that I can see the USB in Configurable. I can also see the USB in USB Loader DX in Waninkoko's v21 [58] (not in d2x4b1 [58]).

Honestly this is getting pretty discouraging. Maybe I'd be better off just using my original (iykwim).

There must be something relating that ios58 , that's used for usb2.0 detection .
Try older versions of the loaders that use cios202 for usb2.0 support .
Also , note that if you don't have wi-fi set up all apps launched with hbc 1.07 and 1.0.8 might suffer from bugs ( that's a known issue with HBC called the network init bug )
Have you wi-fi setup and try an older HBC

Wiiflow won't load from SD afaik
I installed cIOS250[58]-v21d2x3.wad and indeed things have changed for the better
HDD is still not detected but overall CFG Loader moves a lot faster , doesn't freeze and loads games from SD . Threend , you say all games freeze after ~20 min using CIOS with base 58 ?

    UPDATE -

No luck with cIOS 202. I believe that is actually what the MPlayerCE USBTest uses and that came up with 100% failure.

I also tried Wifflow and it also did not see the hard drive (even on the 58 build that would detect it in Configurable).

My Wii is having all kinds of problems with Original Discs now as well. Games are freezing and not loading all the way when run through the main home screen or launched through loaders. These are originals I'm talking about.

Which leads me to believe something is extremely F*!ked

Where can I go from here? Is this thing toast or is there a way to wipe the IOS/cIOSes and start over.

    Any ideas are appreciated.

Is that right for HBC to be running on 37?

No, it should be running of IOS58. You can do this by reinstalling HBC from the HackMii installer.

    Thanks Kryptical -

    QUICK UPDATE

Reinstalled HBC and it is now running on 58.
Still does not see hard drive when running a base 56 or base 57 cIOS 249 (only tried d2x4 b1).
Still locks up in backup when running d2x4 b1 base 58.

Gonna take a look at that Boot2 v2 next.

I've never run Darkcorp. I'm not completely sure where the IOS4 patch came from but I originally hacked this bad boy years and years ago with the Twilight Princess bug. Didn't understand cIOSs like I do now (thanks to all this BS) so I really don't have any idea what I installed back then.

Is there any reason not to upgrade from 4.1U to 4.3U?

I had a friend having similar problems. Nothing would see his HDD. It was a Western Digital 1tb. He never turned off spin down so I installed the WD software to my PC and turned off the spin down. That made Config Loader see it and UsbGX but Home brew could not. It would freeze after a few minutes of play like yours does. I then reinstalled all of his cios's. I used a tutorial I found here on AskGbatemp

    link
    http://ask.gbatemp.net/1594/what-best-reco...aninkoko-hermes

    Quote from post.

    Hermes' IOS:

IOS202 v5.1, base 57 (used by media players like WiiMC, but they can now use IOS58 instead of IOS202).
IOS222 v5.1, base 38 (IOS38 is your only install option).
IOS223 v4, bases 38+37 (used for music games if they don't work with IOS249).
IOS224 v5.1, base 57 (used for games that don't like IOS56 as a base with IOS249, like Black Ops).

    Waninkoko's IOS:

IOS249 v21 d2x v2, base 56 (Use ModMii to install this. It will give you compatibility with 99.9% of games).
IOS250 v21 d2x v2, base 57 (Use ModMii to install this. It will give you compatibility with games that don't like IOS56 as a base, like Black Ops).

After this no more freeze and home-brew successfully mounted the HDD as well!

What kind of HDD & SD cards are you using? It may help to know.
