HD tv questions

I'm still using an old tube tv with basic cable.

I want to play my wii on a big screen tv, watch HD tv (a few channels is okay) and hook up my computer.

anyways in order to have HD channels do i need a special cable box?
is HD tv really double the price of basic cable?

Well most recent TV's do have all reciever you would need to get HD so that should be not a problem

BUT !!! not sure about Canada but here in Germany you need to "buy" the right to watch HD and they normaly give you a reciever as well but its rather expensive
can only talk about germany but well maybe its "similiar", here you need to pay like 14€ for just a few basic channels in HD and ~40€ for all HD channels
