...and the 5 free mail-in movies still apply. If you want some cheap high-def, now is your chance.

Also, it now includes an Xbox Media remote, USB cable, and King Kong.

Amazon has all their HD DVD titles at 50% off.

I know nothing of the two formats, but would it be possible for a firmware hack that allowed blu-ray to be played on HD DVD? Seems possible to me, but I know nothing of the two, and therefore its probably improbable. Would make this a good investment though

Obviously not. They are both Violet lasers but read in completely different way. Your correct in assuming it's improbable.

There are a hundred or more movies available in HD-DVD. They have been around $25, on sale often for $15 or buy-one-get-one-free. The prices are bound to either stay the same or go down a little bit more.

Sure, if you have a PS3, it doesn't make sense. But, if you're a cheap ass like me, get what you can now. It's going to be at least two years before Bluray players are $200 or less. In the meantime, I'll be enjoying a good sized collection of HD movies for much less.

I think they should've handled the end of this better.

Rather than be honest and admit it would be discontinued soon, MS used the exact same tactic Sony did with its PS3 SKUs and dropped the price a week or two before discontinuing it.

Then dropped it AGAIN just a day or two ago...
