That's because they use Google Drive and if something fails for you then because the file has been downloaded too often recently by others.
Wait a few hours/days or get your stuff manually.

No this has nothing to do with the PC (which is even the core "feature" of the app, that it doesn't need one).
Seriously, there's enough ways to easily get games on PC (apart from dumping them on your own).
Obviously I won't share links or anything but Discord and/or Google + Reddit aren't hard to use, really ...

With 90DNS I was getting speed at 2.4Mbps, with google DNS I was getting randomly from 1.7Mbps, to 6.3Mbps, speed kinda vary. Sometime it seems like not all the download would go through, like it been said already how many people downloading it has a factor on it being available or not.

Tell that to them :rofl2: I think everytime someone says it's slow they yell at them to stop using 90dns and use ingonito.

I won’t switch to google dns for this, I did have a previous post saying it’s about the same as 90dns since I wasn’t getting the firmware 8.0 update but last night trying out google dns again, the 8.0 update actually downloaded, I guess the first time around I wasn’t using google dns long enough to get the update. I did also have a post saying I’m not sure if it makes too much of a speed difference and honestly I don’t this it does.

Not sure what thread I read this in but it said something about atmosphere not really working with incognito.

You have to use either SX OS or ReiNX on 7.0.1 or lower to setup Incognito, then you can boot into Atmosphere and it won't bug you about the update.

Atmosphere doesn't allow writes to the data that incognito modifies. As starte above, use reinx or SX to install it then you can switch back to atmosphere and have incognito installed with no issue.

Something about that resolution runs pretty slow for me on HBG downloads compared to running my own yadns server. Its usually 2 mb/s vs. 8.

Ooof 8 is brutal still. It's probably more to do with where the file are hosted and where 90dns is hosted and the hops it has to do. Could be wrong. I am no networking expert.

90DNS is slow because their DNS servers are in france and Australia iirc. Google uses DNS load balancing, which means if you are in the US, google is going to give you a french or Australian download server which is obviously going to be very slow for you. This is one big reason why people should not use 90DNS.

Yup. I figured it was something like that, but where the files are hosted doesn't help either. If I connect to my personal nut server from outside my house, I don't get shitty speeds like that. Not saying anything about igonito. I like your stuff believe me. Just saying that only one part of their issue, but hey what ever works for them.

That's not how DNS works, it's nothing like that at all!

A DNS does DNS lookups, provide you the IP address. A DNS lookup takes a couple of milliseconds, if even that. It only does it when it needs to find something new. Once YOUR DNS (router, or your Switch local routing table for example) knows what to do, it doesn't even use 90DNS anymore. You don't download things via 90DNS, your Switch does it directly to provided IP. It's not a PROXY!

No, this doesn't mean Nintendo have access to your Switch, since 90DNS never provided the way to access them in the first place, so your local DNS have no idea where to go.

A DNS server has the potential to affect access time on initial DNS lookup after which the associated IP-address is cached locally by either a local device or local router.

Once it has the associated IP there is no more DNS resolution unless the cache is wiped or the DNS entry is invalidated upon which a new request would have to be done.

At no point would DNS affect download speeds.

Unfortunately hbg does not provide many games/updates. They just fail to load. Hellblade sanctuary or yooka laylee for instance. Or is it just me having problems?

The claim here would be that the IP address you get depends upon the location of your DNS. So yeah, the DNS isn't doing anything once the download starts, but if your download is now from a French google drive server and you are in the U.S....
