I'm having an issue with loading games with USB Loader GX. When I try to load a game, the default settings of using loader ios 58 and game ios 249 or 250 results in the screen going black for about 10 seconds and then back to the main menu. I then have to completely shut down my wii because if I try to load usbloader after that, it freezes. I am using rev1272. I can get it to work if I use ios 249 for both game and loader but the loader will freeze (some step about reinitializing) if the drive is in the right (facing the back) usb slot. If I use the other slot, it says waiting for hard drive. I have to use that slot and then when it says waiting for hard drive, plug it back into the other one and it will load and ganes will load. I tried changing the usb slot to both, 0, and 1 but at some point during testing those options, with all the freezes and forced reboots, my drive must have gotten corrupt because now it shows up as RAW and Windows asks to reformat. This is a newer SSD drive. I have included my syscheck output.

Hello.:)

Thank you for including your sysCheck, that was very forward-looking.:yay:

The first question please is for your HDD and how is it formatted ?
You mentioned that your HDD is recognized with RAW format under Windows.
Did you used WBFS ?
It is highly recommended to use FAT32 for Wii games.
Is your HDD also partitioned ?

You may also try to update your Softmod with the suggestions (according to YOUR sysCheck) for your Game cIOSes from ModMii:

Thank you and
Good Luck.:)

I meant to include but forgot, I used Wii Backup Manager to format it as fat32 with 32kb clusters. I used ModMii to update cios's just a while ago. That syscheck is from right after I updated. I just did an update option in ModMii. I didn't include a syscheck to have it determine it. Is there a difference? Should I do it again and include the syscheck?

The drive showing as raw, I'm not sure if that's happening because of something with the Wii or it's bad and needs to be warrantied. I'm looking at that now but it might be a separate issue. I can't even format it because it says it's write protected suddenly. I used diskpart in Windows to remove the write protection but it still says it is. Still, I'm treating that as a separate issue as that's new and the games not loading is an issue I've had for some time.

So, I ran a check and despite it being an SSD and only 18 months old, it's got bad sectors. I have another somewhere. If I can find it I'll try that one or I'll have to wait until I get the other one RMAd. I'm not sure if that's the cause of my issues but I don't think so (although I would prefer it were as that's fewer problems to troubleshoot). I would image bad sectors would cause problems no matter the USB port but I've seen stranger things happen. I'm pretty sure I have two problems but I won't know until I can get another drive to test.

Hello.:)

Thank you for your detailed reply on your issue(s).

It is a good idea to test another HDD.
Please a SATA one if possible,it is not the point because SSD is also ok.But maybe the USB/SATA Connector/Adaptor between the Wii and the HDD makes to issue with the SSD.Maybe.

Sorry that your ssd is showing signs of dying and bad sectors. Like suggested try with another drive to know your setup is fine, then you can go back to try your ssd. ssd and flash should have safety in place to skip bad sectors. I don't know enough to make suggestions to fix it (format it, or maybe use a manufacturer tool to mark bad sectors).

just some additional informations about IOS:
if you use IOS58 in the loader, it'll be compatible with both USB Ports, but once you launch a game with cIOS rev10, only USB Port 0 (bottom port) will work.

If you want to use Port 1 with games, you'll need cIOS rev10-alt (r53).
and if you want to use that IOS slot (instead of 58) inside the loader, you'll also have to tell the loader you want to mount Port1. only IOS58 is doing it automatically, if using cIOS you have to manually select the port to mount in the settings.
but using Port1 is not recommended for compatibility reason. stick to Port0 at the bottom (near the edge).
