Just a follow up to this, I wound up updating to 9.2.0.20, don't use the 9.2.0.20 update on that iso site, it's not right. Like I said it before, it updated my O3ds to 9.0.0-20 actually, and then I found out my dev mode was broke. So I jumped through hoops and finally got it downgraded back to 4.2 and dev mode worked again, re-updated to 9.2.0-20 - THIS TIME USING the update package for 9.2.0-20 on the OTHER website that had these CIA packages. This one worked, now I am on 9.2.0-20. I still can't get back into dev mode though.

I compared the 6 CIA files from the one on that iso site, and they all differed then the 9.2.0-20 package from the other site.

I went through this because I have been having really poor consistency in booting into gateway mode. (2 out of 5 boots) I have no idea if this will help, but after I found out I could no longer get into dev mode on 9.0.0-20 I figured it was worth a try getting to the right 9.2.0-20.

Does dev mode NOT work in 9+ versions? Or maybe the devmode is not being upgraded in the CIA pack for 9.2.0-20? Anyone know?
What do you need dev mode for? You only need it for updating sysNAND, and I'm sure you don't want to update any further than your current 9.2 firmware.

I was just trying to wind up with everything working right.. And I was thinking if there is some other newer firmware version we need to be at to take advantage of something, at that time I would not be able to update since dev mode was not working.

I never even knew about dev mode up to a couple days ago, never needed it.. so I guess your right it does not matter really for me now, and if I really needed it again I could just downgrade to 4.2 like I did earlier today with Gateway.

Thanks

i suggest staying in 4.5, and just using the DS Profile exploit to launch gateway. the only thing you lose is autoboot anyway.
Why stay on 4.5? As long as you use emuNAND, there isn't anything you can do on 4.5 that you can't on 9.0-9.2 AFAIK (though I could be wrong)

Honestly since you have Mset exploit you may as well stay on 4.5. The whole point for the new way to boot gateway is for people on 9.2. We have to use external forces to boot the GW. for an O3DS we have to either use a phone app that sends files to the 3ds via browser exploit or connect to a website that does it. N3DS luckily got mset downgrade to use. So really if you are on 4.5 I would just stick to it. Honestly I wonder why it took GW this long to let us boot like this anyway.

Because that only works on N3DS. OP has an O3DS. We don't get that method. But hey, my FW is 10.3. ;)
Oh, sorry, I didn't realize that MSET downgrading was impossible on O3DS.

Still, is there much of a point in launching GW through the MSET when you're using Themehax?

There may have been before this past week. But a 4.5FW 3DS can use mset. So I guess GW didn't do it on O3DS because we can downgrade and have the same effect. But I do love menuhax. No more using my phone to boot my GW. Hell I never even see sysNAND anymore.

So can 4.5 FW "auto boot" into Gateway mode like I have setup with 9.2 currently?

I was under the impression from everything I read that in order to do that I had to be on 9.0/9.2. (The reason I have upgraded)

Thanks

Auto boot no, but you can boot it from within. My point was that before this last week we could not boot GW with the 3DS by it self. Count your blessings.
