I have a ntsc-u wii that i bought on launch day and i recently decided that i am going to mod it (only because i absolutely cannot wait another month to buy smash bros). which one should i get? Which one is simplest to install for someone with no soldering experience? is soldering hard to do? help!

If you don't want to solder at all, get a wlip + a PIC-based modchip. Like wiinja deluxe or yaosm
But if you want to mod your wii specifically to play SSBB, you may want to wait until we exactly know which chips will run the game without problems. Because right now a lot of confusion is going on about that game.
And it's also highly likely that the game is dual-layered. So you'll need a dual layer burner and disc.

I have a launch Wii (NTSC-U / D2A) as well, and decided to mod it myself last summer with zero soldering experience. (Wiikey)

I can say it's possible as long as you do your homework / get all of the proper tools / take your time, as I haven't had any problems with the installation to date. (although that could have just been beginner's luck

I personally used the wire installation instead of the quick solder.

As far as which chip is the best... I'm not sure these days, but I've heard good things about Yaosm, Cyclo, and from the looks of it Wiikey as well (since the support hasn't actually died, contrary to the rumors.)

kedest: i have DL burner and discs, so thats no problem. wlip seems kinda expensive considering it doesn't come with a chip. and i have soldering equipment, but i'm not very experienced in using it.....i guess i'll wait a bit until someone can figure something out with brawl.

Kuronekokun: thats quite reassuring since i've had my eye on the wiikey, but i'll wait for brawl news.
