Advance Wars DS is not really like Red Alert 1 + 2. Red Alert is a Real Time Strategy game and Advance Wars DS is Turn Based Strategy.

If you really want to play a game like Red Alert you can always play it on the Psp Psx emulator (full speed with full sound). However, Advance Wars on the Ds is excellent and I am playing it again after completing once.

The DS is fairly starved of RTS titles, even more than RPG titles.

Anyhow +1 to Advance Wars even though it is not an RTS. There are a few other noteworthy DS turn based but they tend to be Japanese.

Command and conquer was actually getting a DS port (unofficial and rumblings of an official one): http://www.cncds.worldoffokkers.nl/
A touch of war is not bad either:

Commercial has little in the way of RTS, there was a game with shogun in the name but it tended to get unfairly compared to the PC title of the same name.

Age of empires was made for the DS.

Anno 1701 - Dawn of Discovery is also a great game that was recently released.

The closest thing for RTS right now would be Heroes of Mana...
