Has anyone managed to unbrick a system using B9S and a hardmod?

If so, please describe what sort of brick/how it happened, and what you did to fix it.

Also if you attempted to fix a brick and it DIDN'T work, same info please.

I think this will be useful info - installing a hardmod is a serious undertaking, and if you can't fix the brick then it would be good to know before wasting that time. And once NTRBoothax is a thing, it would be great to know which bricks are fixable.

The Sighax NTR Boot9 exploit (name TBD) can fix all bricks caused by software (as it obviously cannot repair hardware damage :P), because checking for NTR is the first thing Boot9 main does. Tools will have to be written for it to do something like recover a console with no NAND backup or restore an MCU brick (though more info on the cause of those is needed), but they can all be theoretically fixed with the right implementation.

Now when you say all bricks, does include the infamous New3DS 2.1 brick?

I certainly hope no one has managed to brick their 3DS already, B9S hasn't been out for more than a couple of days :P
Anyway, I thought the tools to decrypt NAND on PC using the bootrom keys didn't exist yet?
What's ntrboothax exactly? First time I've heard that term.

I was thinking in terms of existing bricks - I still have a bricked N3DS that I installed the wrong 2.1 update files to.
You're going to be able to use a DS flashcart as a hardmod. Possibly only Acekard 2i will work, but I'm hoping for others. Normatt (not sure of name) is supposed to be working on it, though I don't think he's ever posted on the subject, all info has come through others.

That's the "MCU bricK" I referred to.

Ntrboothax is a recently discovered recovery mode where if certain buttons are pressed when the lid is closed then the bootrom will boot from a specially formatted NTR (DS) cart. If you are familiar with the PSP scene, just think of it as a Pandora Cart.

Actually I wonder if this would help me out. I recently was able to unbrick my 2ds using the 2dsaver, because I was stuck on the 2.1.0 without the 2dslider, but then I did something stupid after, and basically cart updated without realizing it should have been a cart containing something NOT over version 6, and now by 2ds is bricked to the point, where the screen is black, but it does power on.

Either way, I have a 2ds I replaced that one with, and a 3ds I bought not long ago, but the 2ds that's bricked still holds value to me, because it was one of the first things I bought with my own money :)

Would this help my situation though?

Thank you, I could not remember what it was called and Google wasn't helping me one bit.
Still though, I am wondering if does fix the MCU brick?

Thanks for the reply man, and that's awesome. I would like to let you know though, despite my first mistake on that 2ds, after getting the 3ds I've recently obtained, I hacked it successfully using your guide, and I just wanted to say thanks :)

That's pretty damn cool. Could that be used to install b9s on any 3DS?

Yes it could, though you would need either a custom cart (which doesn't exist yet) or a compatible DS flash cart and nobody knows which ones will be compatible yet. Best guess right now is Acekard2i (since it is publicly known how to flash a new firmware to it as well as how the firmware works) and possibly DSTwo (if the firmware and flashing code is reverse engineered).

I assume a magnet could be used instead to simulate the lid being closed, or doesn't the 3DS work like that? (I know it worked on the DS)

I would if I could find a reliable US based seller for the Acekard2i, I haven't been able to do so yet. Yes, there is nds-card.com but they take over a month to ship it.

I believe you can. Not sure how powerful it has to be. It would be cool if the magnet in my hand would work but I doubt it.
