I didn't see any threads on Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness... so here we are!

Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness is a farm simulation video game published and developed by Marvelous Interactive Inc. in Japan, and set to release in North America by Natsume exclusively for the Nintendo DS. It is the fourth installment on the DS. (from wikipedia)
    Shipping Date: August 26

I've been a pretty big fan of the Harvest Moon series since the GBA versions. Even if the reviews of this version isn't "great" (7/10 is still good!), I believe I'll have no problem doing all the repetitive tasks and courting a partner. The Harvest Moon games aren't known for their high review scores!

QUICK FAQ[*]Why do I have to accept EVERYTIME when I ship something?
You're doing it the long way. Instead, hold the item in your hands and DRAG the item FROM YOU HANDS into the shipping bin. Your character will drop the item and the bin. That's it.[*]I keep picking up wood/stone when I want to chop/gather them. What's up with that?
Use your d-pad to activate tools. If your axe is d-pad-left... use d-pad-left to actually chop. Only use the touch screen to position yourself.

I have no high hopes for this game whatsoever, seems more of the same. Plus reviews from Japan say its the worst in the series.

Only Rune Factory has kept me playing the series, the last proper HM game I enjoyed was Friends of Mineral Town on the GBA. Every game since has seemed to have been a big step back than forward.

Sad and true [IMG] I skipped Harvest Moon DS because of all the bugs. The next one, Shining Sun and Friends, seems a bit more promising since you can control your character with the actual d-pad, again.

There's a Wii version coming out soon, Tree of Tranquillity... but the 3D versions haven't been that great for me.

EDIT: And yet, I still play them... I don't know why!

The last one I truly loved was Friends of Mineral Town on the GBA. I would of loved Magical Melody if I had it for more than a rental, it had a lot of touches I greatly enjoyed and it was definitely my favorite 3D one.

I'm hoping that this one goes back to the old style of things and doesn't change around too much...

Agree. HMDS is very bad, using same old GBA graphic , bad storyline.

I like Friend of Mineral Town /More Friend of Mineral Town/ Back to the Nature(PS1)

...or even, perhaps, Rune Factory Wii?

The textures in the screenshots are quite nice, especially for the Wii.

    Ah, it's SO far away.

Does this Harvest Moon offer something other than watering crops and sucking milk out of poor cows? [IMG]
Oh, and other than talking to poeples too, should you wanna joke with that [IMG]

Buggy game. Giving it one chance, and I'll probably forget it and wait for Rune Factory 2. Hopefully less Wifi abuse.

Maybe some birds to take care of and provide some natural background music [IMG] I'd love to have them, having brids chirping beautifully at your farm with cattles quietly grazing sounds like a good plan [IMG] and soothes your mind

I'm thrilled for this game as I've always loved the series.

I was a bit disappointed on the last two Harvest Moon DS games, as they were boring and had a shitty story.

Hopefully this'll be much better than those were.

I really enjoyed The HM64 as well as FoMT. Rune Factory was good, but I'm definitely ready to go back to the classic HM gameplay, though I will buy RF2 and RFWii when they come out (assuming that they aren't terrible for some reason). I've got HM:MM to play right now, and I haven't gotten too far in it yet, so I'll be playing that until IoH finally makes it to stores.
