Of course there won't be any more Harry Potter, unless JK Rowling writes a new book on adventures of Harry's son

I dunno, it's happened before. It's not unheard of for directors to want to turn a series based off of a book into a standalone movie for the money.

Just to compound that have a look at several TV shows in recent years (especially a lot of the "big" shows from the US premium cable world). This being said the author does seem to have a fair amount of creative control and/or has retained a fair amount of rights to the series as opposed to many others that got their works adapted over the course of things.

I seem to have posted a lot in this thread. Maybe I should do something constructive for an hour or two.

I forgot to address this earlier

re:"inaccuracies compared to the books"

I know this comes up with every time a story crosses a medium/format/convention (or gets an abridged version I guess- thinking stuff like Evangelion or possibly even TV episodes cut for time) but do such things need to even be an exact retelling of the books?

Granted I have never read the books (there are several hundred fantasy/fiction books ahead of them to read and others to reread before I get to Harry Potter books) and what I have seen on the matter it appears as though it did not help that the books we not all that finished when the films started appearing.
This.

Christopher Columbus was the guy who directed the first 2 films. The first 2 films are often considered as the least favorable of the Potter series, due to their insanely precise closeness to the book's plot. When director Alfonso Cuaron decided to direct the 3rd HP movie, he made a multitude of changes to the book. What happened? Prisoner of Azkaban is often considered as the best of the HP series.

Also, J.K. Rowling has a large amount of creative control (she co-wrote the movie and produced it) so she's the one calling the shots on what they're going to take off. She has control on what to remove and what to place. So you can't really blame it, the author herself wants those "inaccuracies".

As for the whole thing about a sequel, this may enlighten it. http://www.pottermore.com

i gave up on harry potter movies after order of the phoenix. I read all the books except deathly hallows. So instead of seeing harry potter this weekend I saw... Winnie the Pooh. It has alot better than most would expect. It probably would confuse alot of people making them wonder how you watch it without 3d...
