I think I'm going to upgrade the hard drive on my 20GB drive to 120 using the hard drive hack to take advantage of the game ripping function in the forthcoming upgrade. I've seen warnings that you can get banned from Live for doing this but I have yet to find anything from Google wherein a person has said they've actually gotten banned from a hard drive upgrade hack. So, has anyone here gotten banned for upgrading the hard disk? Is there a way to get unbanned?

You mean using a other Hard Drive rather than the official xbox 360 one? Then no i don't think you get banned. I have heard no reports of people getting banned over this case.

Yes I've heard of people being banned for doing the hard drive upgrade hack and also for doing a doing a fan mod, and no there is now way to get unbanned.
I think that you are more likely to get banned when doing these hacks on an unmodded 360.

Apparently any kind of hardware modifications to your console, whether HDD, fan mods or whatever are detectable and may lead to a ban!

But since you are using backups you have that risk anyway, you got nothing to lose so give it a go I say! [IMG]

I have a flashed BenQ drive with firmware 1.41. Will I be banned from Xbox Live if I take it? I thought the firmware was stealth so safe at the moment, till Microsoft is able to detect it.

Thing is no one knows exactly how Microsoft detect modifications to firmware/ hardware, anyone giving you a definite answer regarding this is misleading you!

The way you should look at it is if you have made modifications you are in danger of being banned stealth or not.
