  • (4) S/he thinks that her/his unique lifesaver is an obsolete, risky, and no-more-supported process like HardMod
  • (5) S/he injected a NAND copy from another console on the problematic one
  • (6) S/he doubts that a hardware failure/damage could be the cause for her/his console problems
I must add that facts to your list
These important points suggest a very likely possibility his/her hardmod attempt could have ended up hardbricking the motherboard.

We should give jason the benefit of doubt. As long as the board is physically intact (no shorts, broken traces, fried or missing components), ntrboot + * Lazarus3DS can revive a 2DS/3DS that had its firmware completely trashed with a garbage NAND reflash (super softbrick).
  • * Lazarus3DS was made for these super softbrick scenarios. CTRTransfer (Type D9) will get a 2DS/3DS back to a bootable state but can fall short replacing certain console unique files that were erased.
After he exhausts ntrboot and can't get the mobo to show any signs of life, not even bootrom 8046, then would it be safe to assume there's nothing left that can be done. RIP.

I've seen people describe their problems only to later claim something else or present crucial facts that were missing in their initial posts. I may not always take someone's words or description of their problems at face value
The only crucial fact he could add that would involve the function of his flashcard after stating quite clearly that he has successfully used his flashcart for ntrboot before to install CFW on his system is an admission that he is lying, and if you think that is true then why would you believe that he has a brick in the first place?

You're free to share your own ideas if you think there is another or better approach that OP can take to resolve this black screens (hard?)brick.
My point wasn't that there is another or better approach that OP can take to resolve this black screens (hard?)brick. It was that the method you gave was horrible, because if he uses it and it turns out that his flashcard is unusable for ntrboot, then he will have another bricked console on his hands.

Please tell me how a flashcart would be able to brick a console what so ever. The flashcart may brick if the wrong firm is flashed onto it, but it sure wont screw the second console.

Sorry, I got confused. I was busy laughing my head off at a stupid joke made in the Switch forums (Don't jerk off while doing fusee-gelee - you might blow your payload!).

It doesn't hurt to ask him to recant his story and reiterate the steps he took. Also, some of his replies were not easy to make out. His writing appears to be machine translated as some of his phrases were somewhat awkward to read.

Which is why I requested that he share a picture of his actual flashcart. It would be good idea getting a second opinion making sure it is ntrboot compatible.

One can only do so much about warning a person that's being helped in all the pitfalls of a given advice. Whoever is receiving the help or suggestion has to decide for him/herself to follow through on it. If someone like jason does not take the time to read, understand, and accept the risk of uninstalling custom firmware, like skipping or ignoring the safety test, the fault of bricking his n3DSXL would be on him.
