Yeah I changed it again! So yeah this is the releases that are due on DS & PSP, the home console & PC thread will appear on Saturday/Sunday when I get the write ups from VVoltz & Tjas.

Read to know when a game could be dumped:
These dates are what retailers say is out unless stated otherwise, sometimes they make dates up for pre-ordering purposes. These dates could also be "shipping dates" which usually means that that's the date when games get shipped to stores so a game could either be in stores on that day or after. Some games may get delayed some others not listed may appear but at the moment of posting these are correct. Also just because a game is released in stores it doesn't mean that they'll appear on our internets but NA titles usually appear on our 'nets Wednesday night UK time. I love you with mouth.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Region: North America Genre: Adventure/Puzzle
Developer: Level-5

Publisher: Nintendo

So this could be the first true classic DS game of 2008. The Japanese love it and the games sell extremely well over there, they already have two games with another due later this year AND a film is in the works for release over there. When the wealthy Baron Agustus Reinhold passes away, his will reveals a hidden treasure in the village of St. Mystere. Unable to locate the treasure themselves, the baron's family calls upon renowned puzzle expert Professor Layton and his apprentice, Luke, for help. Upon the pair's arrival, their search for the treasure is interrupted by the suspicious death of another member of the Reinhold family. Now with two mysteries on their hands, Professor Layton and Luke must work their way through the village's many puzzles, riddles and brainteasers to find the truth. I'm expecting to waste a hell of a lot of time with this game, something I've not done with a DS title in ages.

Dungeon Explorer: Warrior of the Ancient Arts

Region: North America Genre: Dungeon Crawler/RPG
Developer: Hudson Soft Publisher: Hudson Soft

Been wanting this game for a while now, though Japanese reviews have said that its just "ok" but most of them don't like Metroid so what do they know? I still think I'll enjoy it as it'll be the nearest thing to Diablo that we'll probably get on the DS. Players find themselves in a land plagued by a legion of undead, monstrous soldiers. The story takes place centuries after the events of the PSP version, as a legend foretells of a hero who will rise to face the threat. Gamers must rediscover the lost Ancient Fighting Arts of Westria to restore peace to a once vibrant kingdom. With more than 60 different fighting arts across 8 lost Ancient Fighting Art schools, players can become a skilled warrior to successfully wage battle against dangerous enemies such as the Demon God's undead soldiers, mutated monsters, and an army of ancient automatons. The game offers hundreds of weapons, armor and equipment; all can be reworked along the way. Players can also choose from three hero races and three character classes to form a unique warrior for battle. For a group effort, 3 players can join forces to battle the Demon God's minions via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. You can also do co-op over wireless play too. Try previous PC Engine games to get a feel for this.

Hokuto no Ken: Hokuto Shinken Denshousha no Michi AKA Fist of the North Star

Region: Japan Genre: Mini Games
Developer: Spike Publisher: Spike

Set in a post apocalyptic world and following the journey of Kenshiro, its based off the latest Manga and is the thrid game bearing the name to come to the DS. This time its by Spike and not Sega and not a damn fruit machine game. Looks like its full of mini games. One mini game makes you choose which of the four depictions of Raoh features Raoh crying over his brother Toki. Odd...can't we just have a kick ass fighter instead?

Naruto Shippuuden: Dairansen! Kage Bunshin Emaki

Region: Japan Genre: Action
Developer: Takara Tomy Publisher: Takara Tomy

Wow a Naruto game, don't see many of them! Looks different to the previous game and its not an RPG like the last one and apparently you can play with 3 other people. Thats all I know.

Yet another franchise that is bled to death on the DS, I fail to care.

Barnyard Blast

Region: North America Genre: Action Platformer
Developer: Sanuk Software Co., Ltd. Publisher: DSI

My brain has gotten even more stupid, I'm am aching to play this Castlevania but with pigs game. For some reason my brain is saying "hey its gonna be fun, trust me, cowboy pigs" while my common sense says "smeg no its DSI! Look at the screens and trailer, pure crapdome. Oh and you remember that terrible game with various cowboy animals, it will suck" oh well, lets see if it actually comes out this time and we'll see what its like. Oh apparently its bosses are Pumpkin Zombies, Assassin Rats, Evil Trees, and Sinister Monkeys...sweet. Robert I just want to tell you - get some bread while your out, okay?

Naruto: Ninja Destiny

Region: North America Genre: Beat-em-up
Developer: Takara Tomy Publisher: Namco Bandai

God dammit another Naruto game. Seems quite strange that this is out in Europe before US, usually Naruto games come out 9 months later...meh. Yeah its a 3D fighter, could be good who knows right? Probably be crap, I dunno never played the Japanese version but the video makes the game look real good so heres hoping it is. Apparently this version will be vastly improved, being twice as smooth with an improved framerate so its not just a straight localisation from a 2 year old Japanese title. No online though.

Developer: Ubisoft Publisher: Ubisoft

This is gonna be like...totally lame! I like saw this at some thing Ubisoft was doing at Lakeside and yeah it looks like totally the same as the last two. No screens because Ubisoft don't care...like...whatever.

There are also Europe releases of Arctic Tale, Betty Boop's Double Shift, Powershot Pinball Constructor, Ratatouille: Food Frenzy & Miami Nights: Singles in the City which were released in the US already and are total shit. The excellent Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings also finally gets a Europe release as does the the decent Cooking Mama 2: Dinner With Friends even though the first game is still doing very very well here.

PSP

12th Febuary

Dungeon Explorer: Warrior of the Ancient Arts

Region: North America Genre: Dungeon Crawler/RPG
Developer: Hudson Soft Publisher: Hudson Soft

Ok so apparently this is a different game to what DS owners get. There is a different story & it has different races, so why not name it differently? Meh. The PSP version won't have online play (boo), but will have more jobs, better character customisation and it will be prettier. Prepare to battle demonic forces and seal the gateway from which they have come. You are a Warrior of Ancient Arts, trained in the ways of mystical forces and weapon arts. Lead up to 3 comrades-in-arms via single player or Ad Hoc Multiplayer mode to defeat the evil that plagues the land and seal off the Great Labyrinth from which these creatures spawn.

Chessmaster: The Art of Learning

Region: North America Genre: Chess
Developer: Ubisoft Publisher: Ubisoft

Chessmaster: The Art of Learning expands the scope of chess to include broader principles of learning. Josh Waitzkin's much-anticipated book The Art of Learning (Free Press) is designed to pave the road to successful long-term growth on and off the chessboard. The eight-time National Chess Champion and two-time martial arts World Champion presents a unique training program involving specially designed chess-themed mini-games, puzzles and standard chess games. Players are rated for Analytical Reasoning, Focus and Memory, and can record their progress over time. Josh will advise and encourage the player as he improves his mental abilities through the medium of chess. Again seeing that this is a Ubisoft game, there are no screens.

There is also the US release of Wipeout Pulse & Europe releases of Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles, Dragoneer's Aria & Hard Rock Casino which have already come out in English in other countries.

Professor Layton and Dungeon Explorer.. The good DS games are coming back! And I still have Advance Wars to finish
unsure.gif

.. and Contra 4 but I'll never finish that
cry.gif

The description of "Bratz" is perfect XD

And I played the japanese version of that Naruto game.. the idea of a 3d fighting game is good.. but that game is awful.. I've heard that the US version has some changes.. and more characters.. still, I don't think it will be much better :/

Anyway, good job Hadrian! Why not keep doing just DS/PSP and let VVolts and Tjas take care of the other systems?

Professor Layton looks very promising.

Oddly, I'm looking forward to Barnyard Blast. Maybe it'll be the first decent DSI game?

Thanks once again Hadrian.

For me it'll be Professor Layton and Hokuto No Ken, as the "PLayable Manga" style of the game (like the Black Jack release 1 oer 2 years ago) looks perfect for the fan boy (or girls).

These and the US Naruto game are what I'm looking forward to. Even the Japanese Naruto game looks improved.

Really wanting that Dungeon Explorer to be decent. Looks like it has WiFi multiplayer.

Nerto fightan game doesn't look bad either. Hopefully the physics live up to the video.

Speaking of the videos, Hadrian, you should embed them with tags.

Actually looks pretty good this week.
I'm sure that Professor Layton is going to be great, and I'm no anime fan - but that Naruto game looks pretty darn sweet.

And, of course, that Bratz: Super Babyz game looks kick ass.

It does have wi-fi.

No it'll be slow for dial up users (which there are still some here) and also it'll make the thread too large for some and also are people that lazy to not just get it in another window/tab?

Dungeon Explorer looks like the most interesting to me. Prof. Layton could be interesting. That Naruto fighting game might be something...

UGH! I was on dial-up one day last week because our modem died. That SUCKED! Luckily, it was just that one day.

lolwut? a tokimeki game? interesting yet it looks like utter rubbish that has been spewing forth lately. for those interested, tokimeki is a franchise of h-games/harem anime. this is probably a intereactive novel though.

layton+dungeon explorer = win.

Professor Layton looks AWESOME!!1! BTW what about Apollo Justice? Last I checked it was supposed to come out the 12th, did something change?

Edit: IGN says that it's Feb 12 but it seems that others say the 19th. I's confused

That Dungeon Explorer seems interesting. Gotta try that. And I'll try that Naruto Shippuuden game, seems nice.

Also nice to know that Naruto: Ninja Destiny got a framerate improvement. The Japanese versione was terrible. Too bad that probably there will be too few moves as in the original.
