All the information you need to hack a Wii is in one site right here. Learn it, understand it, don't brick it.

Oh come on, you could at least link me to softmii 3.0 or something. That would be a big help.

The SoftMii Kit has a high brick risk (even for the experienced user). The only good app from that pack is SoftMii Tweak, which allows you to skin your Wii's System Menu. [IMG]

For starters, use bannerbomb to install HBC. Next, use the ULTIMATE 4.0 guide for cIOS249 (needed for SoftMii Tweak). You also need it for the IOS36 patcher, which will allow you to install Preloader. (Search around the forums for those.) [IMG]

Ive done dozens of Wii's with softmii (people requested it) and have NEVER had any probs with it. I'm not pro-Softmii by no means, but I was just wondering if anyone has actually come across a Wii bricked through Softmii installation?

I agree that it's much more rewarding when you sweat it out and look for, and find things yourself. There has been a few more developments (i.e Neogamma) recently, so have some fun and put your SEARCH engine to good use

Meh...I would wait...I'm assuming that you want SoftMii because of cIOSCORP, which is basicly the only good piece in this crappy package...Anyways, soon cIOS rev14 is going to be released, and this one will be based for a new cIOSCORP (I think v3). You would have to do all the Hacking again. Just wait two weeks, and then do it...

Oh, and I support the "doing-by-learning" method. It's always better to know what you're doing, and you're more a "Hacker" if you know it. Read up here and on HackMii, your Wii will thank you.

What's the ultimate 4.0 guide? If it contains, DVDX, IOS35 or IOS16, it's crap.

I would suggest using the TBR to patch IOS36 and then install the cIOS. That works on boot2v4 Wiis too, and it much faster than all other methods and directly enables you to install preloader if you really want it.

how about following the scene for a while and maybe hanging out on IRC and learning how to do it yourself.

and if you come back with "some of us havent got the time to blah blah blah" then you dont deserve mods' pay someone else to do it or get a drivechip installed.

well, it does. it has a much much higher risk than simply leaving it alone completely virgin. everything to do with homebrew on the wii has a risk.

What is the difference between this guide and the ultimate softmod guide 4.0 on GBATemp?

I was going to use this guide, but then became aware of the GBAtemp SoftMod guide, so now I am confused.

Guide are useless: think by yourself
The way you want your wii is certainly not the way the guide want it.

Post the steps so we can see if it's junk or out of date.
