Do I still need to put the install data on my memory stick to speed up load times? It doesn't seem necessary since the whole game is already on the memory stick.

If you're playing from memory stick, it doesn't make any difference. Although if you had the UMD version, it would've made difference and would have made it faster.

Depends how much the files are compressed.
Monster Hunter is a clear example of installing data actually worth doing.

Considering that I'm playing a Megarip of MH3P, and the loading isn't slow at all, I'm not so certain.
Now, MGS Peace Walker, with the Codec Audio, now that's a good game to use Data Install on.

You can't install with the ISO of KHBBS anyways for some reason last I checked.

random question, because i don't want to start a new forum. Does it take a little bit of time for the final fantasy ps1 game to look for the save file? I mean it's not huge, but I notice when i play ff7 that it takes 2-3 seconds for it to locate the save file, its not instant.

Probably has to do with the fact that the PSP has to emulate a memory card.

I started playing it on my friend's PSP that he let me borrow, with the UMD. It was still pretty slow, even with the installed data, but I'm used to DS where there's no disk loading times [IMG]

Anyway then I got a PSP myself and switched to the ISO. Without the installed data, it was still pretty fast. And no loud disk reading sounds!

wasnt it even possible to remove the install data files from some isos to shrink it down in size?

It really only makes a difference with UMDs (god, how i wish BoF3 had that option), specially on 1000's, since they got only half the ram too..

yes, i do it all the time.
you need to be carefull though, maybe 5% of the games use the install-data when running from iso.
so you need to check that what's in the install folder is also in the other folders.

funny thing, some games actually double everything other than the Eboot.
so when you kill the install folder the game is half the size!
