Hello All,

I have been trying for weeks to get Guitar Hero DLC to work inside Warriors of Rock and no matter what I do I can't get it to work. Looking for a kind soul that can help guide me.

Setup

32GB SD card (no adapter) in the main Wii Slot on front
Original Launch Wii modified with cIOS per the recommended guide
USB loader GX utilizing a 500gb drive in the correct port (all games load fine, boot on both 249 and 250)
Latest versions of WiiMod Lite, YAWN, and WadManager
Latest version of Wad2BIN
Keys dumped according to the guide on root of SD card

Process

  • I get no errors converting the WAD DLC (off Mario repo) in WAD2BIN. I am making sure to use Warriors of Rock code per the instruction sheet (0001000053584945 since I'm using USA). I get the private directory created with a bunch of files and the bogus.wad file on the root of the SD card
  • I copy the bogus.wad into the /WAD folder and leave the other files where WAD2BIN placed them during conversion (/private/wii/data)
  • I load up WiiMod Lite and select IOS 250 (I have tried the default 58 it boots up with, 57, 59, 249, 250) and go to WAD Manager, select the bogus.wad, uninstall it first 2x then install. It immediately gives me an error of RET -1022 (like within 3 seconds) and never progresses. All the other managers do this as well and error out almost immediately after starting 1-3 seconds when installing content
  • Assuming it might be doing something, I fire up Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock with the USB loader and selecting cIOS 250 to match what I installed with (also tried 249) they both boot fine
  • Shows 104 songs and under the SD card manager area with 249 it says no content but shows the SD card block size or under 254 it says this SD card cannot be used and shows nothing. I have tried 3 SD card - 1 old school 4gb card, 1 newer 32gb card, 1 256gb card used a micro sd adapter
  • Bonus - I tried Base 37 in Slot 250 with latest versions that also did not work, along with Base 57 in 249 updated versions did not work either.
At this point I don't know what the issue is, but it seems the wad managers aren't even attempting to install the content. I assumed maybe the bogus.wad file was in the incorrect location so I tried moving it around and inside the private/wii/data folder that made no different. I tried leaving it on the root of the sd card, made no difference.

Can someone please tell me what is going on? Do I need to buy the disc and try using the disc in conjunction with the DLC? I am about the end of my rope at this point with ideas.

Thank you for the help.

Thanks for the reply but this is the exact guide I followed which is what is on Mario's repo. I have done this on two different Wiis now, it doesn't work as outlined or I am making a fatal mistake in the process.

i achieved so far;
GOT IT so far, some advice on GH WOR NTSC .
Started with WOR this creates the folder \\private\wii\data\sxie and 4945 bogus, this moved the amount to 182
then used GH5 creates folder ..\sxee and 4545 bogus, moved amount to 342
then used SMASH creates folder ..\sxge and 4745 bogus, moved amount to 401
then used HERO creates folder ..\sxfe and 4645 bogus, moved amount to 531
now used GHWT (Use NULL Key) creates folder ..\sxae and 4145 bogus, moved amount to 675, unfortunately WT songs are installed but don't work

For that reason I recommend Rb3 deluxe, find the custom songs you want online and start rocking

Thanks Sander. When you install the bogus file what program and iOS are you using? Also what iOS to boot the game? Is the bogus.wad file inside the wad dir or elsewhere? I actually moved to rockband 3 on the Xbox 360 and have over 1k songs, much easier but I'd still like to get the Wii version working. Ty for the help.

I basically just use USB loader GX v3 to run GHWOR NTSC on a PAL region WII no special settings, the bogus wads are required to push the wii to think that new songs are in a certain path on the sd folder, you should get a -1022 error, and i just use Yawmm tooling to run the bogus wad that works best.

Ok thanks. I've tried using default which I believe is 249 and manual 250 cios doesn't work. I think the issue is my bogus.wad files error out within a second and never fully installs (i do get ret -1022) when installing the first content file.

the wads should be fine if you followed the wad2bin procedure as they are created at the end of this list, these specific wads only create the -1022 message, you could install/uninstall/install and see if that works, i always use Yawmm

in advance make sure your Wii is fully modded, or run the modmii tooling to get it to work

this is just a very painfull exercise it took me also ages to get it to work, but once you get there , loads of fun and also loads of custom songs

Thanks again, appreciate the help and guidance. I got rb3 deluxe on 360 working with 5600 songs so fairly content at the moment, but won't give up on the Wii.

@amadeusrock wait for some more responses on your post, maybe ask if you can use a cartridge or something to fix it like on a 3DS

I don't think sylverez even has a Switch, they bought one to chip but messed it up. And no kirby, it is nothing like the 3ds.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
@amadeusrock shutdown the switch, remove the SD card and put all new files from Atmosphere, and Hekate github on it, (like that post linked to) then reboot using jig and TegraGUI, and push the Hekate.bin payload. (You update Atmosphere and Hekate by placing new files on SD card, that's all you do to update Atmos/Hekate)
