In response to a massive amount of complaints about the mono sound output of Guitar Hero 3 Wii discs despite being labeled as supporting stereo sound, Activision will offer a remastered version and free replacement discs to those who already purchased the game. These discs could be available as soon as early 2008.

"We recently became aware that some consumers have not been able to enjoy the full audio output in the Nintendo Wii version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. We are currently working with Nintendo and are planning to issue an improved audio experience in future versions of the game," said Activision spokeswoman Rhy-Ming Poon. "We expect to have re-mastered discs available by early 2008 and we will be offering consumers replacement discs at no cost once they become available. We thank all of our customers for their support and patience."

Any word from Nintendo on that Fire Emblem transfer bug? I've heard rumors, but nothing official. Thanks!

Why won't Nintendo just improve their crappy WFC (at least compared to Live! or PSN) and allow developers to release updates?

Hang on, nobody is talking about Ninty here, Nobody said a word about Ninty improving anything. We are talking about Activision solving out the mono problem.

But if the Nintendo service was better, they would be able to make a downloadable update.

But I actually like another disc more...

Yes - but as it was said - if Nintendo's service was actually better, there would be no need for a replacement program (except for those internetless few).

360 and PS3 have hard drive to store the updates...

The wii has very little internal memory though. An update like that has the potential to take up a lot of space. What if some idiot accidentally saved all the songs as mono and to fix it they need to re do every song. that's not going to fit on 512 mb of space.

This was totally careless.
Replacing the disc is an option but this shouldn't have happened in the first place. This was a badly rushed game.

On an off topic notice, I sent an email to Nintendo asking about the whole glitch in the EU Super Paper Mario and the free replacement service. Still no reply.

But really, how can they NOT notice the game is in mono? Or is everyone who worked on it partially deaf?
