PSP - DS - Wii

Finishing up my project with this, although I may do a GBA one.

If you're wondering why Game X is missing, it's because I either didn't like it or didn't play it yet.

The [] after each game is the category.

#

A

A Boy and His Blob: Some really great 2D artwork and the mechanics are fun. Can be quite challenging at times too. [Platformer]

Arc Rise Fantasia: One of the few straight-up RPGs for the system (that's in English). Voice acting is really bad but it's a good RPG otherwise, especially for the RPG-scarce Wii. [RPG]

B

Battalion Wars 2: Sequel the Gamecube game. Basically part third person shooter, part strategy. Overall it's a great game and a lot of fun. Also has multiplayer too. [TPS/Strategy]

The Beatles: Rock Band: AND YOUR BIRD CAN SIIINNNNGGGG. [Music]

Boom Blox/Bash Party: Probably the best casual game for the system. Plays of some Jenga-type mechanics but it's quite varied and shit loads of fun. Enjoyable at any age or gaming area too. Both are worth it. [Puzzle]

Bully: Scholarship Edition: Rockstar's "GTA-lite" game. Still, it's a great game and the Wii controls are actually better. Pretty funny at times too. [Open World]

C

The Conduit: One of the better online titles for the Wii with good customization and FPS controls. Kinda generic single player and it rips some aspects off of Halo but it's a fun online game (if there's a community for it). Great graphics as well. Sequel is out but I have yet to try it. [FPS]

Cursed Mountain: Plays a bit like Resident Evil 4 and still in the survival horror genre. Worth playing. [Survival Horror]

D

Dead Space: Extraction: Awesome rail shooter based off Dead Space. Quite scary at times too. If you bought Dead Space 2 for the PS3 you got a HD port of this, so play it. [Rail Shooter]

de Blob/2: Relaxing and colorful platformers. Go around the colorless towns and paint them red... And blue, green, brown, etc. Both are fun and they all feature some great graphics and catchy soundtracks. [Platformer]

Disaster: Day of Crisis: Nintendo game only released in Europe. It's an odd hybrid of some mild platforming, rail shooting, Trauma Center, and racing. Really weird all around but it's pretty fun (or at least funny). [What the Fuck Am I Playing]

Donkey Kong Country Returns: I'm not a fan of the original DKC games but this one is fun as hell. Great, classic platforming gameplay. [Platformer]

E

Endless Ocean/2: Swim around and find fish. It's mega boring for some but for others it can be relaxing and atmospheric. [FISH]

Epic Mickey: I really love this game. Kinda reminds me of some older time platformers. Great use of the license, pretty graphics, and fun mechanics. Possibly one of the best Disney games to date. [Platformer]

F

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers: It doesn't play like any other Crystal Chronicles game but more like a Zelda-type action adventure game. Some neat mechanics and great graphics, although the voice acting's a bit average at times. Better than critics passed it off to be, just don't expect an RPG game. [Action Adventure]

G

Geometry Wars: Galaxies: Geometry Wars, now on the Wii! [Shmup]

Ghost Squad: It plays exactly like the classic arcade rail shooter. Features some co-op goodness and the typical cheeseball arcade-y style. [Rail Shooter]

The Godfather: Blackhand Edition: Holy shit this is awesome. Plays a lot like Grand Theft Auto but with a good cover system, awesome melee combat, and some fun gang wars stuff/extortion bits. Plus you can make your character look exactly like Billy Mays if you want. RIP Billy. [Open World]

Goldeneye 007: Probably the best FPS on the Wii currently. Has some CoD-like mechanics but adds some fun to them. Features local multiplayer which makes it take the cake as well as some fun modes. [FPS]

Guitar Hero: Metallica: Actually haven't played it but it's Metallica in Guitar Hero. SHAPESHIIIIIIIFT. [Music]

H

The House of the Dead: Overkill: Fuck this fucking game is fucking awesome. It fucks some fucking shit up with fucking awesome motherfucking rail shooting where you fuck the shit out of fucking zombies with some fucking hilarious buddy cop shit and fucking awesome grindhouse fucking horror references. Also contains a lot of profanity. [Fucking Rail Shooter, Motherfucker]

I

J

K

Kirby's Epic Yarn: So cute your eyes may bleed. Counteract by getting a friend and co-oping all up in this bitch and shout profanities at the screen as Squashini tries to fuck you over. Really fun though. [Platformer]

Klonoa: Sweet remake of the original Klonoa: Door to Phantomile. Looks great and plays great as well. [Platformer]

Kororinpa/2: Basically just tilt the field to get a marble to roll to the end. It's fun and easy to play. The second one has a level editor as well if you want to make your own. [Puzzle]

L

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: I don't care what the haters say, it's the best Zelda game yet. Wii controls make it highly superior to the Gamecube version. [Action Adventure]

Lego Indiana Jones: Combination of platforming, puzzle solving, and beat 'em up. I think the second one is laid out kinda poorly so stick to this one. [Action]

Little King's Story: Super fun RTS for the system. Has town building and combat aspects and it can be nice and challenging at times as well.

Lost in Shadows: Beautiful 2D platformer with unique mechanics. You play as someone's shadow, separated from their body. You have to manipulate the levels so you can travel on the shadows of objects and get to the top of the tower. Also looks very pretty and feels very polished. [Platformer]

M

MadWorld: Absolute masterpiece. Amazing graphics, amazing gameplay, super violent, hilarious commentary, incredible soundtrack, and just overall one of the best games on the system. Successor named "Anarchy Reigns" is coming sometime this year for PS3/Xbox 360. Also features Bender/Jake the Dog's voice and that guy from Whose Line making some of the most fucking hilarious things I've ever heard. [AWESOME]

Mario Kart Wii: Probably the best online game for the system and probably the best Mario Kart yet. Good graphics, plenty of ways to play, and awesome online (although there's some cheaters). Once you get to the higher difficulty cups in single player though be warned. The AI are cheap as hell and chain their attacks on you. [Racing]

Mario Strikers Charged (Football): Mario soccer/football game. Plays like most other Mario sports games (power-ups, special moves, etc), just with soccer/football. Also has some fun online if you wish. [Sports]

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2: Still one of the finer online games for the Wii since it uses EA Online instead of Nintendo's shitty service. 32-player multiplayer with a good amount of modes and weapons. Single player isn't half bad either and you can even play it as a rail shooter. [FPS]

Metroid: Other M: Gameplay is average and story is fucking awful. Worth playing though so you can sigh your way to the end, grab some buddies, and laugh your asses off at "Metroid: Other M: The Movie" (which strings all the cutscenes together with some gameplay for a full movie). Laughably bad. [Shitty]

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: The third and final Metroid Prime game. Plays like the other ones and just as fun. [First Person Adventure]

Metroid Prime Trilogy: Contains the third game and the first two Prime games with added Wii controls. Pretty rare nowadays but you can pirate it (although it's dual layered). [First Person Adventure]

Monster Hunter Tri: The PSP games are just a lot better but if you don't have access to a PSP and want to see what Monster Hunter is about, you might as well try this. Plus it features easier online play than the PSP versions. Classic Controller Pro support is here and recommended. [Monster Hunter!]

N

New Play Control!: Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat: That weird Gamecube game with the bongo controller, minus the bongo controller. Now it's just a really fun 2D platformer. [Platformer]

New Play Control!: Pikmin/2: Pikmin now with a much better control scheme. It's still just "RTS for kids" but it can be fun. The second one is only available in Europe in English. [RTS]

New Super Mario Bros. Wii: It's NSMB, just on the Wii now. Some challenging levels and all make it pretty fun. The multiplayer is crap though, I wouldn't recommend it. [Platformer]

No More Heroes: OH MY GOD YOU ARE THE GREATEST GAME EVER MADE. [BEST GAME EVER]

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle: A lot worse than the first game but still worth buying because it's NO MORE HEROES. [NOT THE BEST GAME EVER]

O

Okami: Highly recommended you get the PS2 version since the combat here is really bad. The Japanese version is supposed to have better controls though. [Action Adventure]

P

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands: Actually fun PoP game that doesn't play like that PoP '08 shit. It's different from the console versions and features some specific mechanics that make it a fun action platformer. [Action/Platformer]

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords: It's Puzzle Quest. [RPG/Puzzle]

Q

Quantum of Solace: It's actually a lot of fun. Great cover system and solid controls. Also one of the only FPS games to feature local co-op (before Goldeneye and Conduit 2) and it's still worth playing. Highly underrated. [FPS]

R

Rabbids Go Home: Platforming with shopping carts. Bizarre, fun, and has plenty of lighthearted humor for a good chuckle now and then. [Platformer]

Red Steel 2: Best Wii Motion Plus game, period. Spanks its predecessor in every way. Has some open world/Metroid type aspects to it, awesome cell-shaded graphics, and the combination of swordfighting and gunslinging works surprisingly well. PLAY THIS SHIT. [First Person Adventure]

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles: Umbrella Chronicles are pretty mediocre but this is awesome. Follows Resident Evil 2/3/Code Veronica's story but in a rail shooter game. Graphics are mindblowing. [Rail Shooter]

Resident Evil 4: Best version of it yet. Has all the improvements of the PS2 version (like Ada Wong missions) and the Wii controls make the game so much easier to play.

S

Samurai Warriors 3: More hackin' and slashin' then you could dream of. Runs smoothly and has good graphics. Great for any Dynasty/Samurai Warriors fan. [Action]

Scarface: The World is Yours: Another GTA-like game but following the Scarface universe. Basically it's an alternate plotline where Tony survives the end of Scarface and now you rebuild his empire. Voice acting is superb, gameplay is fun, and the soundtrack is surprisingly good too. If you liked the Godfather, you'll like this too. [Open World]

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes: Plays like Dynasty/Samurai Warriors but with a lot more fantasy and over-the-top stuff in it. Just as fun, if not better. [Action]

Shiren the Wanderer: Classic dungeon crawler gameplay, but the easy mode makes it accessible to non-hardcore crawlers. You can, of course, crank it up to higher difficulties to make it as balls-hard as the other Shiren games. [Dungeon Crawler]

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories: Retelling of the first Silent Hill game. Kinda loses it's scares after a while but it gets me now and then (particularly the underwater car scene, that shit is horrifying). Graphics are great though, soundtrack is brilliant, and the story is pretty good too. [Horror]

Sin and Punishment 2: Star Successor: Sequel to like one of the best on-rails shooters ever. Slash and blow shit up. It's insanely fun. Also contains leaderboards so you can keep trying to top yourself/others. [Rail Shooter]

The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces: Like one of the only flight sims for the Wii. Based off the anime movie which was based off the book. It has an odd Wii control scheme that's a bit of a novelty but you can use the Gamecube controller as well [Flight Action]

Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing: Mario Kart clone with Sega stuff. Not bad but Mario Kart definitely has better track designs. [Racing]

Sonic Colors: One of the first good original Sonic platformers in a while. Has a combo of 3D and 2D segments. Colorful graphics and really the first good Sonic game in a while. [Platformer]

Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions: A surprisingly good de-port of the HD versions. Graphics still look good and the Wii controls work pretty well too. [Action]

Spyborgs: Beat 'em up with some different characters and abilities. Just what you wanted if you needed some beat 'em up goodness [Beamup]

Super Mario Galaxy/2: Like some of the best 3D platformers ever made and the best games in the Mario franchise. [Platformer]

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Sequel to the popular Nintendo fighting franchise. Just as unbalanced but still an undeniably fun local multiplayer game with more characters and fields than ever. Soundtrack is also an epic list of classic Nintendo stuff and it features a level editor. Online multiplayer sucks though. [Fighting]

T

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: This engine was later used in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and it's absolutely brilliant. Easy to play for even non-2D fighting fans. The best fighting game for the system and one of the best this generation, period. [Fighting]

Tenchu: Shadow Assassins: One of the few stealth games for the Wii. Combat is shit if you ever have to face it but the stealth elements are pretty good. Laughable voice acting. [Stealth]

Tetris Party Deluxe: Classic Tetris for the system. Addictive multiplayer that's even more addictive than regular Tetris if you have a friend to play with. Has some gimmicky control options but you can just stick to a sideways Wiimote. [Puzzle]

Tomb Raider Anniversary: Tomb Raider remake with better graphics and some Wii controls. Works pretty well and it's a fun game. [Action]

U

V

W

Wario Land: Shake It!: Also known as The Shake Dimension. Awesome 2D graphics complimented by great Wario Land gameplay, now with some frantic Wiimote shaking that makes you look retarded. Silly, fun, and challenging at times. [Platformer]

WarioWare: Smooth Moves: Another WarioWare game that's just as good as the past outings. A lot of silly fun for parties. [Compilation]

Wii Sports Resort: It's rather mediocre but the sword fighting game is fun with friends. Really lacking content though. [Sports]

X

Y

Z

Zangeki no Reginleiv: Japanese-only action game focused on "strategic dismemberment". Basically you use the Wii Motion Plus to selectively hack parts of giant monsters off. It can lag like fuck at times and it's pretty hard on the Japanese but fun if you learn how to play it. [Action]

Oh yeah. Zangeki is there.

Well, there is something in Other M where a piece of entertainment becomes “so bad, that it is good” where we can entertain ourselves by relentlessly mocking it. For example, see below:

Anyway, Guild, out of the lists this one is my favorite, and not because of the games that are on it but because of the critique.

Now buy a PS3 already and get on that list
