Nobody can tell me why dbibackend has stopped connecting to my switch?

Because the pen drive is fat32. Titles over 5 gig can't go on it. There's no other way other than tinfoil or dbibackend.. tinfoil days my system clock which has never changed is wrong🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
What can I do now? There's no information what I'm supposed to do. Either to connect to dbi backend if there was an error. But there isn't and I don't know what tinfoil means by the "wrong" time. What's the right time🤷‍♂️ I'm not connected to the internet so how can it possibly determine what the "right time" is.
This is so dumb

Oh right so I forgot to mention I did install libusbk . The device was Nintendo switch . So I installed that driver to windows. To my knowledge there's no other steps it should be connecting. No other steps mentioned on this webpage I'm on. .

there is english readme
https://github.com/rashevskyv/dbi/blob/main/README_ENG.md

I personally prefer DBI. it's vey simple and clean and it's updated frequently. it has MTP too. and can be used by accessing homebrew via album, so it can be hidden from kids.
i've tried awoo. it used to be simple and good, but sometimes it just failed during installation without any clear reason and it's never updated anymore anyway.
goldleaf also is quite picky with installation from my experience.
I never really tried tinfoil. people seem to like it since it can access shops, but I don't like being forced to installed homebrew NSP.
where is the actual download?

Unlike Awoo, DBI receives regular Updates and it's easyer to just drag'n'drop a File.
No need for a Backend.
where is the actual download?

Yes, yes I do. Its not hard to find anything nowdays. And to expect anyone to give you links to everything you need is redunkculous. Not hating on you just saying. Much love!
Believe you me. I looked but couldn't see it .
Unlike a regular file download hoster those websites have much more comprehensive information on them and the download link is not at the top in bold letters it was down on the side. Less notable.

If you think I just ask questions to annoy people. I can assure you I don't. As somebody on the autistic spectrum I avoid pretty much any social interaction full stop except my wife and children.
Incidentally it's my autism which makes the way my mind works strong in some areas but requiring clarification in others.
I did Google for the file. But what I found was missing the .nro extension and I didn't want to brick my switch.

So I hope you still feel great about yourself for condescending somebody publically whereas a quick message could have took like 5 seconds.

Looks like DBI 658 is the last English version of the app that will ever be, newer ones are RU only.
Does the 'old' DBI 658 work well for installing games in the newest 18.1 firmware or do we need to use the newer RU versions for that?

you are right

Depends on your definition of «work well»

latest versions of DBI have a lot of bugs corrected, but most of the games install well on FW 18 using DBI 658, duck tell you: «learn russian»

I mean I only care to install games via USB, if it can do that with newer games on the latest firmware I can live with it.

So old english DBI 658 version is installing games correctly on 18.1 firmware or not ?
Not sure if 18xx firmware has new materkeys that makes 'old' DBI not work properly ..

DBI does not use master keys for installing
Post automatically merged:

I mean does not use hardcoded master keys. Atmosphere contains all master keys and provides its usage.
Does this mean that whenever a new firmware is released with a new masterkey DBI will not need to be updated to install the newest games that are build on that materkey? Only atmosphere will need to be updated?

All I want to know is if good old DBI 658 will correctly install games with masterkey 18 or not.

looks like the tutorial for setting up the switch is gone?
so can i ask what am i supposed to do with the updated dbi files? there's an NRO i think it goes on the switch right?
i got a feeling I have to replace the nro file already on there with the newer one, but am i supposed to update something else first, do i really need to update the switch firmware to 18? if so. do i have to boot into the switch normally for that like without atmosphere? ,
is dbi not being fully updated the reason some switch games are not working and telling me to update?

ok i dont think i have anymore questions right now, but if somebody could please private message me if you're not allowed to reply because of this nintendo copyright stuff going on with the previous tutorial, if thats ok?

disclaimer . with great difficulty I slowly and methodically setup the switch originally. but i feel like there's more that I can mess up since i've already done it once, and have savegame data. also im afraid to update the firmware to 18 cause i think it could mess things up. and i wont hear the last of it from my children with game data being lost

i really appreciate any help . because it means i can have some peace and quiet if my children are busy with this and ive got a new baby that wont let me sleep one hour

I suggest you read this post from @Blythe93 which explains thoroughly how to update everything. Alternatively, the old rentry guide can still be accessed through the Wayback machine.

Yep, both dbi.nro and dbi.config go into switch/DBI folder on your SD card, while dbibackend.exe remains on your PC.

You don't need to update your firmware unless your game requires a higher firmware. If that's the case, then you should update.
As far as I can tell from a user's perspective, latest firmware 18.1.0 works properly with the latest Atmosphere, Hekate and sys-patch. Therefore, I don't see a reason not to update to the latest firmware right now. In order to update your firmware, you have two options: 1) updating on sysNAND and dumping your firmware or 2) downloading the firmware files from a certain site we aren't allowed to link to (it's not hard to find them). I prefer the second option as I like to keep my sysNAND on the lowest possible firmware just in case a new exploit is found sometime in the future. It's up to you to update the firmware the way you want to do.

is dbi not being fully updated the reason some switch games are not working and telling me to update?
Probably not, most likey it's because you need to update your CFW (firmware, Atmosphere, Hekate and sys-patch/sigpatches).

also im afraid to update the firmware to 18 cause i think it could mess things up. and i wont hear the last of it from my children with game data being lost
I like to keep my Switch up-to-date if possible and if Atmosphere, Hekate and sys-patch are up-to-date (some sys-modiles as well, like MissionControl) and support the latest firmware. I don't think any save data will be lost, but you can back anything you deem necessary (or everything, really) with JKSV and restore later if something bad happens.

thanks..

i think the only way to replace those dbi files is with a card reader plugged into my pc so i'll do that.. is there an easier way like just plugging the switch into the pc and entering a certain file transfer mode. i suspect not, because dbi is the very tool you use to install things.

as for those other files, including the firmware files you mentioned, but cannot list here, are you allowed to drop me a pm?

because i previously bookmarked a webpage which had links to all the things i needed to check for updates, but it was removed. also the poster above you mentioned a guide where I got this error "

Oops! We ran into some problems.

This member limits who may view their full profile."

therefore if you could kindly inform me in pm if it's not against the rules, where I can get these things from since nintendo removed them from my original bookmarked site..
thank you very much

Files can be transferred with Hekate, you don't need to pull out your SD card from your Switch. As for the firmware files, @Blythe93 was not joking when he said it's not hard to find them. Try googling "firmware download Switch".
