The MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) genre has recently been picking up steam with Dota 2 and Super Monday Night Combat. It looks like now Lord of the Rings is jumping into the fray.

Guardians of Middle Earth is a five-on-five action strategy game featuring noteworthy Lord of the Rings characters like Gandalf, Gollum, Sauron, Legolas, and Gimli, among many others.

The CGI trailer (seen above) shows some intense action between some of the heroes and villains of Tolkein's universe. However, no gameplay is shown.

A release date was not announced but it will be coming to Xbox Live and the Playstation Network this fall.

I want to hear Gimli say "You want me to put the Hammer Down!!!"

Well the thing that actually bothered me is that you'd think he'd use an axe. I'd love to see him beating the shit out of some guy with, I dunno, a hammer and then go "AND MY AXE" and shove an axe in their face.

yea your right he uses an axe interesting thats wierd that they made him look like thor did you see his hammer come back like he was thor summoning it weird stuff

lol I playtested this game
Is it bad?

It was pretty broken, especially Agandaur, but it was in it's playtesting phase. The main features IIRC were that you were able to upgrade your towers, and your minions.
There were like 4 types of heroes, the Tanky DPS, Melee Carries, Ranged Carries, Magic Users, and Builders
and there wasn't a shop system so there wasn't a point to last hitting minions, however this could change when the game actually comes out
