While I am having fun on it, I am becoming more and more paranoid when I use it.

I've found some cooling fans on Amazon, but people's reviews say that it blows air into the system, which can be harmful.
Any links to a good fan add on will be appreciated.
Also, what are other ways you have kept your systems alive?

Also, how the hell do I get this thing online without the expensive wifi adapter?
Cuz I wanna pay for and use Xbox live :(

Blows air in to the system and being harmful? Does these people even understand simple thermal dispersion?
Of course it's not dangerous. Why do you think it got airholes? the Xbox 360 Slim even got a fan that pulls down air directly to the cpu and gpu.

I don't blame you, I blame the reviewers. Of course you want positive pressure in the 360 (less dust) but it's hardly achivable in the old 360s. Will you mod it at all? That is Reset Glitch it or something?

You don't have to use a wifi adapter all you need is an ethernet cord run it to your laptop or desktop and change some settings you'd have to Google it though it's been so long since I've done it. Basically you're sharing an internet connection from your computer to your 360.

But if you don't want to do that the wifi adapters aren't THAT expensive about $30 for a used official Microsoft one on Ebay and $15-$20 for an unofficial one. They may go for even less now as 360 is dead I haven't checked in a couple of years.

Ah okey! Else I would recommend Aurora since it have auto-fan speed check. If it gets to hot it will start the vaccum cleaner (yes, the old once sounds like a vaccumcleaner when they spin 100%)

That's true I suppose without trying you can't do anything. Otherwise you have to buy an adapter those are your options there aren't any other.

u can control the fan speed with a jtag/rgh. what some people do with a jtag/rgh is remove the dvd drive, then use the power connector for the dvd drive for the fan. I believe it's 12V while the normal fan power connector is 5V. then, dremel a hole over the cpu/gpu, place a fan in there. controlling fan speeds should be enough though. btw, u'll get a blinking power light if u remove the optical drive and turn the system on. there's a patch to eliminate that though. iirc, it doesn't affect the system in any way, but it can be annoying, so don't worry about it. :)

edit. nm. u want it to be normal. :D

Lol well, I'll have to bring out my old towel ;)
But that'd be a dumb idea
I'll just ask a local GameStop for a cooling fan because I'm not paying for another 360.

Actually, about removing the dvd drive. I don't know if they still do this. But the Xbox logs that you started the Xbox without a DVD Drive and they would ban you from Xbox Live. I don't think this happens anymore but I'm not sure.

do they sell those? the warranty sticker is over the portion of the system that separates the bottom and the top after u take the faceplace off, so I'm not sure if they'll sell something that voids the warranty. don't use those fans that u connect to the back of the system. they're garbage. they typically heat up the system. they might sell those which I'd steer clear of.

If it's going to RROD I personally do not believe a fan will stop it from happening. Most of the older ones are just prone to RROD although I do still have a Xenon that never did. However if you happen to have an arcade Jasper (it has like 256mb of internal memory is how you know) those don't RROD.

I wouldn't even worry about it just play it if something happens deal with it then, but if the fan makes you feel better go ahead. Most likely though it already would have RROD unless whoever owned it before you never played it since 2008 or something. Although it's still possible but unlikely. But if you're the original owner and have had it for years and years and it never has it's very unlikely it ever will.

I dusted everything around the Xbox, and I really dusted it.
After wiping it for the 5th time, the disinfecting wipe was clean, white.
So, I hooked the Xbox back up an I put a random fan near the back. I made sure it's blowing the air directly at the vents.
    Is this a good idea?

it most likely won't affect the heat of the system. the fans at the back of the system r blowing the heat out. phat 360s use heatsinks, followed by a plastic fan tunnel, lastly by dual fans at the back of the system. the heating problem with the old 360 is that the processor chips r far away from the fans. they're to the right of the dvd drive, so they're boxed in which is usually y u get rrod.

I guess I should stop worrying so much.
Looking at the system info in the settings, I see a copyright date of 2013.
I don't know if it's the update or the console.
    I guess I'll go play GTA 5.

On the back of the console, there's a sticker that states the MFR date.
if it's a 2008/2009 console, you don't need to worry much.

Update: I turned the fan backwards and after a while the hot air actually went through the fan
The Xbox doesn't feel as hot
    :D it's from 2008-10-21

It's highly likely to be a Falcon, possibly a Jasper.
You don't have to worry about overheating.
If the console is clean from the inside, it should last a fuck long time.

It's very dusty, but it doesn't seem to be overheating.
