Got a used Modded xbox - searching for info on it.

Hey hey people. I today got a modded xbox in one way or another. As for knowing anything about it for now other than it does boot into (some version of) Evolution X (main screen says +39 or something)

On boot it boots with microsoft logo to X, then some loader loads, which flickers in corrupted manner wildly and I can see some sort of "press A now to something" screen before it boots indeed into xbox evolution dashboard. After this boot the green/red light around eject button will start to flash red for whole duration of the boot but nothing else seems to be wrong with operation - both discs, original dashboard, everything seems to work right otherwise so...

The console has an additional port behind it. it seems to be self installed RCA wire port of some kind but I do not know whatever purpose it has. It did not seem to output video or anything. Picture:

My questions would maybe be; The way the console boots, is it "normal" or whatever to any extent.
If not what fixes, upgrades etc. I should/could do for this system.
If there could be some additional info I left out accidentally.

Any relevant info anyone could share would rock. Thanks.

Additional info:
Although the boot seems to be corrupted and glitchy as fuck, as far as I can gather I have a Phoenix BIOS loader on the console or something - which indeed boots into Evolution X

OK, since it does not output video or anythign I believe this is most likely thing for it to be. I have no idea what the old owners etc were.

As of now I indeed figured out that I had phoenix bootloader thingyamajiggy and I now have updated it to more modern version keeping my old config. Still when phoenix boots up I get flashing red light from that point on which is annoying or at least something I worry about, I tried to change LED sequence from original orgg to oggg as some have it but that changed nothing...

I could give you a C drive which has the patched MS dash + UnleashX on it.
It should solve 90% of the problems.
Evox is a shit dash.

Sure, I figured out given this is something someone literally threw away for nothing, there is bound to be something completely outdated about this system. I do need help figuring out how it is modded so I won't fuck up as it is currently. All in all it seems to be fully in working order, got to try out metal wolf chaos. The flashing red light thing bothers me a little and all googling gave was someone else with exact same problem going even "anyone" just for nobody to never answer him (and thus indirectly me) - Given I tried even modifying the LED sequence etc I dunno what is up.

Screw it open, if you see a chip sitting under the DVD drive then it's hardmodded.
HMU on PM if you want the drives.

OKAAY. I have to indeed check how to do anything for my thing given it for now is using Phoenix Loader and I really do not want to know what happens if I even slightly haphazardly go changing things around in this system. I for years wanted a modded xbox if not for Metal Wolf Chaos alone.

Thanks for all the help a lot too. I will go and open up the console for now. Oh also the clock is not keeping the right time which is annoying...

Hmm I fear that your clock cap is dead, if it's a 1.5 or below xbox
See if your scaler chip has the Xcalibur logo on it or not

If it has Conexant or anything, it has a clock cap.
I'd remove it ASAP if I where you (if it starts leaking it could lead to trace corrosion, which happened to mine and then you're dead in the water with it)
Just grab the cap and pull it up a bit, then snip off the leads under it.

Spoiler: yank this fucker out ASAP!

Just keep yer Xbox plugged in from that moment on, otherwise you need to set the clock again.

Pff, Showtime/Movian on PS3 is far more superior them XBMC.

You can upgrade ram and remove the resource limits of the software. But that aside, xbmc is by far more functional then any other dash. Particularly if your going to stream roms or video which is a must given the hdd limitations. Sure, you could just use other consoles for that but why limit the fuctionality if you don't have to?

UnleashX does the best job at being a replacement dash close to the original MS dash.
I've modified UnleashX for me own to incorporate a lot more blade and options.
Besides, upgrading the HDD to a newer and larger one is the best option.

XBMC can be installed as a secondary dash.
Shame that XBMC will never be able to play HD vids like the PS3 can ;o;

No I think this might even be a 1.0 xbox afaik it might been earliest softmods for some people.
I read somewhere some old booter exploits caused the clock to be shit which it is. Even when I do keep it plugged in it resets between boots. That is what I mean. It does not seem the clock cap is... completely gone yet. Here while I have the shithead open have some xbox porn:

It has a 120gig maxtor drive, I am indeed unsure has xbox ever shipped with one or not, what I know of is mostly 40gig drives and I dunno what good large drives would do as updates, downloadable content or digital games were not big with xbox afaik.


And Yes even I do have a modded PS3 which is my go to thing for media and stuff, as long as I am not doing 10bit 1080p and shit the bogey handles it.


But yeah I do not thing it is the cap, I think it is the type of exploit I have installed for now or whatever.

And no, all Xbox HDD's where 8 GB (some where 10 with a 2GB F partition that was disabled)
120 GB is plenty if you're just looking for some games.
DLC is hardly there for the original Xbox and most are just multiplayer maps.

If you want then you could FTP into the Xbox, delete the C drive and FTP over me C drive, do the same for the E drive.
DO NOT POWER OFF OR USE YOUR XBOX WHEN YOU DELETE YOUR C AND COPY IN A NEW C.
This will "brick" the xbox and will cause it to spew out errors that it can't locate the dash etc.
It's a stock UnleashX install with everything set to default.
Perfect to begin with.

Yeah, I can do this I already tested FTP:ing over Metal Wolf Chaos to my F drive. Noticed Xbox did not like it if it had multiple writes going on so I even limited my filezilla down to 1.

And yeah I fucked one xbox softmod attempt years ago which is why I have not attempted to do it again with my one fully functional unit that is stock 1.6 or something.
