Nope, you sure don't.
Well Google sure does have a lot of nerve to do this. First they try to take over internet browsers (with Chrome) and now cell phones.
In the near future, we may very well live in a world ruled by Google.
You mean we don't already? D:
Everything's touch-capable now anymore. I just want my phone fixed.
What is it with all these freaking phones. You know what I want my phone to do? Make phone calls. Companies seem too busy making the newest phone/sandwich making hybrid that they have all but abandoned signal service. I mean, there was a half hour yesterday where I couldn't even get any calls out despite having bars. But don't worry, it makes a good sandwich to eat while I'm stranded and waiting for my phone to work like a freaking phone.
iPhone killer = HTC Touch HD
Wait for it....
Google is not interested in the phone itself, but in the OS running on it.. the Android
Google's idea with the Android is not the make something "hip" like the iPhone or even to kill the iPhone.. they're trying to make a simple, easy to use and develop unified mobile platform.. the Android is free and open source.. so, it's free and easier to develop applications to it and anyone can do it!
They are not trying to compete with Apple here.. at least not for now..
Two words: Windows Mobile.
OS X Mobile is a million times better.
I'm about to order this just for the OS.
Seriously, Android will be the best thing to ever happen to cell phones. I just wish that the phone itself was better..
iphone killer....well thats pretty easy....Any phone with gps, a camera above 2mp and that actually has bluetooth transfer! What im pissed off about is 02 spent so much money on dealing with that peice of shit phone that theyre over budget so now when i wanna get a proper phone i have to change contract!
Once again ignorantly focusing entirely on hardware specs and discounting the things that matter (heard of interface?)
Also, Bluetooth file transfer? lol
Its not 2002 anymore. You don't need to use outdated tech to perform something done quite easily via wifi.
there will be a Google College one day, mark my words.
Along with Googlitary (Google's Military force), and Google brand housing, which will have built in wifi.
Google Earth will be relaunched as a physical planet.
I dont think people will buy such an un-hyped phone. Maybe the OS is better, but there was almost no hype for this.
The GUI looks like crud. Why is it that open source developers always have some of the cruddiest looking GUI designs? Hopefully, if it's open source, people with design talent will get on board and make something that's prettier. This phone and other Android phones are supposed going to have a 3D processor chip in it, so I'm hoping they have some amazing designs down the line. The bad news about this Google phone is that even though the OS is open sourced, the phone itself is still locked, on the "open" perspective that makes little sense. Though I'm hearing now that after 90 days or so, T-mobile will allow you to unlock it which is something they have for all phones, but still locked out of the gate.
Urza is right.
And will this phone only be released for T-Mobile?
This is the first Android phone. There will be more from other manufacturers down the road including HTC and some other ones. The "Google phone" is a bit misleading. It's the OS, which will run on a variety of phones.
Ahh I see. Thanks!
have you seen google streets?
they see everything!
