Do you believe it is all a myth or there is something (anything) to it?

Yes, people are using witchcraft, and there are many different beliefs and practices associated with it:

  • Belief
A 2022 study found that belief in witchcraft is widespread, ranging from 9% to 90% of people in different countries. Belief in witchcraft is linked to cultural and socioeconomic factors, such as lower education levels, poorer economic development, and higher religiosity.

  • Practice
Some people practice witchcraft as a way to draw meaning from chaos and control their circumstances. Wicca is a tradition that includes rituals that are often performed in a practitioner's home, and typically involve a circle, an altar, and tools such as a chalice, pentacle, and wand.

  • Abuse
There are thousands of cases each year of people being accused of witchcraft, often with fatal consequences. These practices are a challenge for countries in the global North, especially within migrant communities.

AI will “admit” whatever you want it to if you just tell it that it’s wrong a few times, I wouldn’t take anything you get from those bots as gospel lol

I just typed in on google are people using witchcraft one time, and that was the response.

So do you believe it is all a myth? I haven't said I definitely believe it's true btw, just getting people's opinions. The only experience close I've had was when I was a teenager me and some stoner friends were using a Ouija board and I thought it was a joke so I said spell my grandpas name that died less than a year before that, because no one in the room but me could possibly have known his name and without my help the other hands spelled his name perfectly on the first try.

I don’t really have an opinion on it either way, I just know that AI is a summary of public web pages and the like. There’s no “admitting” or secrets being uncovered here. It’ll just blurt out whatever pages it has access to says.

Google AI is pulling the stats out of its metaphoric ass.
Or maybe it is classifying superstition as "witchcraft".
Or any kind of belief in a supernatural, from religion, "spirituality", superstition to actual attempts at witchcraft.
Either way, AI is not to be believed.

EDIT: If we lump every single way people try to affect the world by supernatural means through ritualistic behavior, which includes prayer, curses, wishing wells, tossing coins into fountains, picking four leaf clover, burning effigies, avoiding walking under ladders, wishing upon stars, doing any sort of thing "for luck", reading The Secret, and so on, into one great big lumpy lump and call it "witchcraft" then yes, 90% is a believable estimate.

Is what a myth?

There are people practicing witchcraft, I have met people who say they do. I've also met people who claim they can read tarot cards or can read aura's.

That doesn't mean it's real.

I'm atheist, I don't see witchcraft as fundamentally different to any religion. Certainly there are some countries where superstitions are far more influential than they should be.

I've certainly come across people with superstitions. The most common belief seems to be in jinxing, though only in cases where an unfavorable event is spoken of. Second place probably goes to items around the house that ward off unfavorable spirits/thoughts/energy.

Active participation in witchcraft by way of Google is new to me. Even in my line of work, I don't come across overt believers.
