    How about Hoshigami?
Looking at your list, I assume language is a barrier? If not, Luminous Arc 2 is out, and Disgaea (for some good few dozen hours if you're willing) too.

To name a few that people haven't brought up (even if they're not the most amazing):

Battles of Prince of Persia was also a decent turn-based strategy game. It had weather and morale effects and things like that, even.

Panzer Tactics, too. This one was very good if you like more 'traditional' wargaming and hex-based strategy, more like a board game than a videogame in some ways.

Warhammer 40k Squad Command. Even more wargaming-ish, for obvious reasons.

...wasn't there one other one based on a wargame? It was almost impossible to play unless you already knew the wargame it was based on, though... I forget its name.

Any of the above, plus Steel Horizon has not been mentioned yet.

Front Mission >>>>>>>>>>> Front Mission 2089

FM series only go downhill as they release more games. Sigh.

Worms Open Warfare 2 (It's a strategy game, you have to admit it, and it's turn-based, he never said it should be grid-based [IMG])

The best turnbased strategy game for the DS, imo, is Rondo of Swords

Robot Wars and Emblem of Gundam (that's the S-RPG one right? I saw the promo for it at GeOS or somewhere and it looked bad bad bad ass - its sitting on my cart but I'm pretty busy with disgaea and FFTA-2) if you're willing to wade through the Japanese.

If you are willing to go back to GBA: [IMG]

    Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

Actually, I haven't played the first one, so I don't know the quality of that. However, this game is good if you like the challenge of games where you can lose party members permanently if they die.[IMG]

    Still funto play, though. [IMG]

Civ:Rev - I was afraid of this game after playing the demo on XBL but the game is so well suited for handheld play. It has quickly turned into one of my favorite DS games. It could present tremendous hurdles if you are not familiar with the series, but if you are not you really should be. If you just like a game where strategy is paramount, some RPGs offer very in depth battle systems. Of course that requires you to sift through the "fluff."
