I have a habit of listening to mp3's/midi's mostly is there any other players besides winamp that can load/make playlist and play these files on an older computer? something that doesn't need insane specs to run? thanks.....

I'm going to say foobar2000. It literally is a bar but I dunno if you would like it. [IMG]

    Between insane and insecure
I use VLCplayer myself, it's small, and works with every file I can think of
As well I have used it on every computer, even the slowest computers and it runs just fine.
Hell my computer right now is a piece of crap, but it runs VLCplayer with no problems.

Since when did running winamp + classic skin require huge specs? [IMG]

iTunes is pretty good I think it could run on any computer. Windows Media Player always works.

I use VLC though its the best.

I don't think SongBird or iTunes is a good choice for an old PC. They can get pretty greedy with RAM :S

    I would suggest foobar2000. It's very efficient & minimal.

Winamp isn't resource-demanding... you have probably set it up wrong. Mine uses up 15 MB and 5% processor time, and my computer has a few years already, mind you. I am even running it with a fancy skin.

the only time I had a problem with winamp is when I tried to load my full track playlist (over 20 000 files). I never did it again [IMG]
I'm now using folder queue or single file listening, choosing by hand what I want to listen. no playlist is the best.

My first MP3 player is from 1995, working on Windows95 : Winplay 3 (the first encoded .mp3 player, no need to decode to .wav !)
I'm sure it's wasn't resource consuming as 95 wasn't RAM and CPU based, now I don't remember the sound quality. Min requirement : 66 MHz CPU
(I have it, but it was shareware... but Fraunhoffer seems to have forgotten it in decades, maybe it's now an abandonware)

There is also DeliPlayer (an old but very good multi format music player, one of the few supporting amiga Modules)

There is/was Mod4Win (module music only)

I'd suggest foobar2000 as well. It's very customizable.

AIMP2. Fast, very light (like 9 mb footprint) much features (like Last.fm, media libary, tag editor etc.) and plays almost everything!

No I try to not run to many things at once,i'm starting to wonder if maybe it just lags when the program skips to another song not sure,i'll have to test out that theory.....
