I have a V1 Switch that I plan on repairing. I'm also giving the old pair of Joycons to one of my brothers, and one reason why is that I want a better pair of Joycons.

I've been thinking of aiming towards getting either the NYXI Hyperion controllers or their Pro model counterparts, but I had a feeling that there might be some other controllers out there that might be better picks.

So here I am, asking people on a gaming forum for Joycon alternative recommendations.

My requirements are:

1. They must work in the same way as original Joycons. (Being usable in both TV and Handheld mode.)

2. They have to be the same price as official Joycons ($80) or lower.

3. They should be at least somewhat more comfortable than the original ones.

Although not required, I do want these controllers to have:

1. Gyro, like the originals.

2. Wireless connectivity, like the originals.

3. Extra features not seen on the originals, like: Turbo, Paddles, and/or Lights.

I'm not sure if this belongs here or not since it's a non-hacking question, but it is a Switch related question so I think it might be safe to ask.

Thanks in advance!

I fucking HATE Joycons. Everything is too damn small, and the sticks are trash.

I just ordered this with the hall effect sticks, and I'll report my findings. I already have their standalone Pro Controller and love it, despite it being so lightweight.

Another great alternative is the Nexigo Gripcon
It's a "portable dock" with Hall effect, programmable buttons, the feedback of the buttons and triggers are very well, and good confortable, The only feature that missing is the HD Rumble, it has a "standard" rumble that works very well.
the switch connected to this gripcon, it looks like a steamdeck.

I've tried the Hori Split pad compact before and like it.

I don't like it myself but if you'd prefer a solution which includes HD rumble and gyro then get the Nitro Deck. This one has the advantage of having cases built for it.

The Satisfie Switch grips aren't JoyCon replacements but might be what you're looking for.

Nitro Deck has standard eccentric motor rumble. If you want Split Pad Compact but with HD rumble, look at Coiorvis Phantom.

Nitro Deck’s new Plus model is still pretty good. Like the GripCon version mentioned above, it can act as a dock. It has the Wii U literally superior stick position (but, as with the OG joycon, the d-pad and ABXY are directly below the sticks, not offset diagonally as on a standard controller, so they are not very comfortable to reach - the original Nitro Deck got criticised for the right stick being uncomfortable and the new version improves this as ABXY can be mapped to the back buttons so you rarely need to reach for the face buttons). Four back buttons plus another two programmable side buttons. It can connect to the Switch via Bluetooth, although this isn't likely to be super useful as it has no battery so needs to have the controller plugged into USB C power.

I use the Adapex R100 pro dongle, plugs into the docking station, only costs about $10 on aliexpress and there are firmware updates when needed. Works great with ps4/ps5/xbox controllers.

One controller that is getting some traction in our region is the mobapad m6 hd

Basically has all the features of a regular joycon (including wireless, amiibo, and hd rumble except the IR sensor) plus hall effect joysticks and mechanical buttons

I mentioned those, it's my daily (white version). It's comfortably in my big hands too!

EDIT : Did I mention they were mechanical buttons too!
