Hardware gonna be buying a HP dc5800 for $5 what upgrades should I get?

Title. Also what would be a good graphics card? I'm gonna put in 3 GB of ram so it will have 4 GB.

Get a GTX 1050ti Low Profile card that has 4GB of VRAM. I'd also recommend altogether replacing the RAM and seeing if you can find a deal on a full 8GB DDR2 set

but wouldn't a core 2 duo bottleneck with a 1050ti? I'm thinking of buying a 1030 off a friend for $40

It really depends on what games you're playing and whether it favors single- or multi-threaded workloads. And it's not like the Core 2 lineup is particularly expensive on eBay if you want to upgrade it; just find the highest-clocked Core 2 Quad/Extreme you can at a reasonable price and drop that sucker in

Just to give a few examples, you could get the Q9650 @3GHz for $51.00, but if that's too much you can find the Q9550 in literally impulse-buy ranges

Ok so i picked it up and it has a windows 7 pro key on the side. No os installed. I found 4gb of ddr2 and am getting my geforce 210 from my friend back for now but i plan to buy a radeon hd 6570.

How does Win 10 run on that device? Installed on my old Core 2 Quad it runs like a slug, maybe mechanical HDD though.

windows 10 is actually quite usable, well if you have a 7200rpm hdd i put a 1.5tb 5400rpm(I assume it is because it was from an old external hdd) and it runs ok (i used to have a 160gb 7200rpm but i wanted the extra storage)

Got a 5850 at the moment, was looking for an upgrade. Might get a 1050 ti around 120-140 CAD pretty soon (still negociate) . I've put an SSD, removed hdd, installed windows 10 pro . Runs pretty well, faster than my brother and mom laptop 2015-2016 for browsing, video, LoL. May buy a new psu to handle that graphic card atm. Still looking hard for some deal in Canada with black friday at poor rates.
You should look at https://www.reddit.com/r/bapcsalescanada/new/ to look at deals often updated.

From a guy who look to hit a 600 CAN pc with ryzen 3 , a cheap case, use ssd from current 5850...

5$ its pretty awesome for the price. Got mine free from my grandma, those still selling for 100-200$ in Region..

dude i'm somewhat hyped for black friday just to go with my friends to Canada Computers, I hope they have any low profile gt 1030 for dirt cheap(er)

Something you could do is get a q6660 (core 2 quad) for dirt cheap, and just replace it. i'd do that and get a 1050 ti, or not upgrade the cpu, and get the 1030. It depends on the ammount of money you want to spend

so for Christmas I asked for a q6600 which is supported on hp's supported CPU list, and also a gt 1030. Should be much better than what is in it right now by a long shot!

i GOT A Core 2 Quad for it and it works really well! Just incase anyone is wondering what core 2 quad its a q8400, the chipset supports it but nowhere on the cpu upgrade pdf said anything about the cpu, so am really glad it works really well! this pc is gonna replace my dying desktop at this rate! also gonna be buying a gt 1030 soon

well the psu is only something like 240 watts so not a huge amount of gpu's work at the most i'd put in a 1050ti
