OK so now that the 0.3 loader is out, Mario Kart is working flawlessly (including wifi). So this leads me to believe allot of you guys are going online with the backups..... Also tetris party wiiware was released recently and that also has online play.

So I guess my question is... can you get banned from the wii network... or even worse, sued or fined?

I went online today with my backup copy and i got the usual prompt that "information will be sent to Nintendo blah blah miis, records etc etc"... so surly they could detect the backups or the VC and wiiware games illegally installed..

so anyone else been online with a backed up mario kart?

Oh and im not genna go on about my morals on pirating or anything like that but ive now purchased mario kart due to what a good game it is and i havnt brought the force unleashed (after trying it) because it was kinda lame.

    Thoughts on this guys?

Nintendy is stupid, they can't detect if it's pirated or not

Nope. I don't think you can get banned from them. Even if they find out someone is using a backup, I think its illegal for them to track them and ban you but I'm pretty sure I'm wrong.

Nah. Nintendo won't ban you. They like us all pirating games so they won't stop us doing anything. Plus, a workaround would be made anyway.

wii games/wiiware arent unique (no serial number like a pc game for online play - ever wondered why offline pc games usually dont have a serial?) so not really chance of banning anytime soon

Nintendo's online system is quite primitive. They can't tell the difference between a backup and a real disc.

Methinks they may be able to tell if you are using a scrubbed backup since the scrubbed dummy files wont be the same as the original unscrubbed dummy files that Nintendo uses. Whether they'd go to the trouble of checking for scrubbed images is another matter entirely.

I was just playing WiFi on Brawl from a Backup copy o.O,

    Nothing happened to meh.

Don't worry. Nintendo can't really tell crap if it's a backup copy, from a real copy.

Well with WiiWare games...my friend (he actually bought MegaMan9 and the DLC) downloaded a WAD of FFCC. He then out immense stupidity or "huevos grandess" (Colbert) decided to buy a new outfit for the characters with his actual Wii Points.

Not sure how that's working out with him.

Well, I can say from experience that, using "backup" copies of Wiiware games, don't do anything also.

I got that Dr.Mario Wiiware game(downloaded it through a .wad), and that game has WiFi.

I played it on WiFi and nothing happened.

    Nintendo is so stupid xD.

Is it possible to play online with downloaded copies before release date? If so, what will happen? Nintendo really need to release a headset for online play, the amount of fun that would be when playing Mario Kart.

Its funny to read that nintendo cant track copied games.. how come? Microsoft can track you down and ban you from there system.. when using a chipped xbox? whats the difference..?

Allthough i think nintendo aint that smart, or not paying that much attention to there online network maybe?

Something like GHWT, it was released some places early, and the servers were open already. And it was duped early, it worked, I don't think he was talking about WADs.
