Good ol' Games, known for providing DRM free old-school and new PC games for those who don't like various types of DRM has announced and launched "DRM-Free" movies! This is an interesting turn of events for Good ol' "Games", as it seems they're trying to expand their DRM-free ideas to all corners of the market.

Yes please. If I could pay someone for unrestricted access to the content, I'd probably buy movies. At the moment in most cases I can either rent or have a license for device X.. Go GoG!

How long until they change their name to "Good DRMless Stuff"? :P
Anyway, that looks really nice, I hope they expand that DRM-free stuff for other stuff. :)

Yeah, at the moment the movie selection is...well, straight up poopy butts. But it's GOG, I assume their selection will slowly increase in time! Lol

They haven't been "good old games" for years, but simply GOG. Otherwise selling brand new games would've been againts their slogan as well :P

I haven't pirated a game since 2010 due to services like GoG. DRM is the most annoying thing about today's market. Without ease of use, DRM has no place. Steam has shown repeatedly that low prices and ease of purchase and use outright trumps almost all forms of piracy. I can't wait to see how this idea pans out.

Recently I wanted to buy a movie in HD and watch it on my computer. My PS3 has CFW so PSN was out of question. Amazon doesn't offer downloads, Google Play and iTunes would only let me download SD movies. So after I wasted money trying to get a HD version I ended up pirating the movie.

This is awesome. And unlike steam, they've actually given movies their own section. :D

(also: a quick checkout showed that the movies are downloaded as simple mp4's - in three different resolutions, no less - so no fuss whatsoever :) ).

Gahars: ah, c'mon. You didn't really think Hollywood blockbusters would be leading an initiative like this, right? Perhaps it'll change in the future, but I think this'll always be a platform for indies.

Lord Gaben may have found a way to get me to spend ridiculous amounts of money on games, but i'm afraid no one is going to get me paying for digital movies. (unless it's reeeeeally good and I want a bluray hard copy of it just so I can say "yeah i've got that")
    GGGOG.

I wont even comment on the god awful selection.
