Glasses or contacts ?

ive been wearing glasses since i've been 5 years old and im interested in gettign contacts cuase there cheaper and i dont have to wear glasses no more lol

i have to wear glasses 24/7 or i cannot see

so i go contacts or get a new pair of glasses ?

Even if you get contacts you should have glasses aswell.

You should go and try contacts on some random place. And then you'll see if they're good at all.
I tried contacts twice or so, but i didn't like to take them off and put on again

but they did their job.

Then you're going to need to wear the thicker lenses. They don't seem to be any thicker untill you put them in. They are very uncomfortable, at least mine are.

Also, they are more expensive than regular contacts. And if you have a dry eye problem, that's another thing to deal with.

tl;dr - Too much of a pain in the ass unless you really really want them.

Contact lenses which also correct for astigmatism are not thicker, just "weighted" by marks on them which line them up on the correct axis of your eye. You can try out sample pairs of contacts for free, just ask at your next exam. If they don't work for you then you can always go back to glasses.

i agree with tams, even if you do get contacts always keep glasses too.
i have worn contacts for about 2 years now and i dont even feel them when they're on. when you first start it takes about 2-3 weeks to get used to them but after that they work perfectly, and it isnt time consuming. it takes me about 1 minute to get them both on.

Stick with glasses. Contacts for astigmatism is costly and probably doesn't correct your vision as good as glasses.
Only night vision will be improved by eating carrots.

i think glasses are cool. nothing wrong with wearing them. you only get teased when you're young maybe but that's past you i imagine if it did happen at all. hell, i have a friend that wears the clear glass glasses cause they're funky.

my boss wears contacts and he seems to like them but is always loosing them :/

I wear contacts and they're fine. I'm not keen on glasses, although I wear them around the house. But when you're out and about its nice to have the freedom and if you're at a gig or something, contacts prosper :-]

I so wanted one of those. For quite a while, only my left eye had a prescription, and my right eye was 20/20. So I wore one contact lens, and always wanted a monocle.

But now I need contacts for both eyes. No monocle for me.

Night vision can't improve...Â

Your ability to see light in low light situations (i.e. night time) can improve, and the beta carotene in carrots does that. It cannot correct the lenses in your eyes.

I've stuck with glasses. I liked contacts in situations where my glasses would be slipping a lot (like when I'm outside in hot weather), but I couldn't get used to sticking my finger in my eyes. And I also didn't like getting up an extra 5-10 minutes earlier, when I can just put my glasses on immediately.
