So, my little bundle just arrived today.
I installed the latest kernel to my R4 v1.11 and i popped in the EZFlash 3-in-1 expansion pack

Now what to do?

Do i need to create a folder called games? or save?

Concerning the EZFlash 3-in-1 what do i need to do with that?
I know i need to get rudolph's little tool, but before that where do put his file on my card?

This is all brand new to me, and it be cool if someone could explain to me what i need to do next

You can put Rudolph's Tool anywhere on the card.

Create a folder in the root called GBA and another folder in this folder called SAVE. Put the GBA files into /GBA, and saves can be automatically made in /SAVE

NDS roms can go anywhere

minor question about the r4. how does it handle saves again?
Is there just ONE save file for the entire R4? or does it split .sav files for each individual game?

it creates a sav the first time you load up a rom. i guess it could get confusing, bc alot of games have 3 save slots, but this is included in the sav.

Moonshell video needs to be encoded into a particular format called DPG, I use BatchDPG myself, search around.

what is moonshell used for anyways?

I click on the multimedia button, and it always boots up moonshell. loads it fine..
but following I get this message as well..before going to the directory

----------
An error was detected while trying to access the disc or a file.

Did the setup end normally?

Is the /moonshell folder moved or deleted.

Have you enabled the resume function with a media that is not supported?

Do you have enough free space on your media?

Please re-format the media and try again.

Please try with a different media from a different manufacture.

----------------------
- What setup end normally?
I just coped the entire R4 1.11 folder to the root O_O Did i do something wrong?
- the moonshell folder isn't moved!
- What resume function?
- I have enough free space! Its a brand new Kingston Japan 2GB microSD card, only put 3 games and 5 mp3s on it.
- Reformat? How using this tool? -> http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=389

Is anyone else getting this message as well?
--------
Also, i didn't do any fancy reformatting with my R4, should i reformat my card for better compatibility? The R4 came today, i just popped it in the reader and started copying stuff over.

thanks rhyguy~
how about this whole formatting ordeal?
must one format?

and I keep hearing bad things about ROMtrimmers. they cause problems with the game and what not. but just 4 games have taken up 400MB of space. Thats quite a bit.

Anyone else experience problems with ROMtrimmers?
or
is the best way still to use a full dump?

Rom trimmers are fine. Use safe trim (in trimmers such as SkinnyROM) and you'll be good. This only trims the "fluff" data that is put in retail carts so that it will fill the cart up.
