Getting ready for SSBX (Wiikey related)

Discussion in 'Wii - Hacking' started by Kuronekokun, Jan 31, 2008.

?

Which scenario would you go with?

  1. #1 - Import SSBX and wait patiently for Wiikey team's update.

  2. #2 - Buy DVD+R DL (20 pack), wait for dump, hope burner works.

(note: I'm going to buy the original game either way, but if I go with scenario 1, it will be the Japanese version, and if I go with scenario 2, it will be the U.S. version.)

    #1
cost: approximately $73 to import the original disc.
Pros: no need to wait for a dump (no downloading)/ Will work with whatever update the Wiikey Team comes up with.
Cons: Need to wait for the Wiikey update / If DVD+R DL becomes the Wii standard from now on, you might have to buy DVD+R DL anyway...

    #2
cost: approximately $45 for the DVD+R DL (20 pack).
Pros: Will probably work with whatever update the Wiikey Team comes up with / you have 20 discs, so if there are DL games in the future, you'll be ready.
Cons: You have to wait for a dump (plus downloading time) / Need to wait for the Wiikey update / Not 100% sure that the burner you have will create working backups.

    Thoughts?

(also, I don't believe I've posted anything out of line, but if I have, please let me know and I'll delete it right away.)

The latter, it's cheaper. But can't you find a 10 pack? I got one earlier today, although I'm in the UK.

Thanks for the replies, from what it looks like, the 20 pack seems like the best choice.

This is the site I saw the DVD+R DL (20 pack) at:
    http://www.pcmall.com/pcmall/shop/detail.a...Optical%20Media

I think it's the right type of media for the Wii, and it seems like a pretty good price?

    and as far as this...
That's the whole point of Wiikey Team working on an update as we speak, I thought? [IMG]

I just picked up a 3 pack of DVD+R DLs at K-mart for $10. I won't need anymore, so that's fine for me.

Apparently the only reason wiikey doesnt run it, is because the wiikey has some shoddy dual layer support (unlike other chips).

So as long as wiikey sorts this, it shouldnt be a problem.

Obviously disc needs to be dumped still..

Does anyone know how to configure IMGburn to be compatible with DL discs? Or advice me on a different program?

    Thanks!
