Gaming Getting close to the rrod

Well, i'm nearing the 2 year mark with my xbox 360 and I'm starting to get worried. More and more every time i turn it on for fear of the rrod.

When i was thinking on modding my xbox i pulled the sticker off from under the faceplate, not knowing it was the warranty sticker.

When i do finally get the rrod (as it seems to be inevitable) how should i go about getting it fixed?

As i see it i have a two options.

1. I could attempt to do the rrod repair myself ( no experience what-so-ever)
2. I could buy an arcade from walmart swap the stickers and what-nots and try and return it saying it came like that.

I have already looked for local repair for a friend but nobody around here does that.


What do you guys think?

I say just roll with it until it finally dies. 2 years of enjoyment is alot considering how widespread this issue is. Mine didn't last a year before I saw the red ring, on mybirthday no doubt lol. So I performed the x-clamp mod and its been running alright ever since. It's relatively easy to do. If you've ever built a PC from scratch then you should have no problem doing the mod yourself.

quit worrying and play it as normal. when and if it does rrod, the warranty sticker isn't there, so you may aswell open it up and take a look around yourself.
there is less than a zero percent chance swapping stickers will work.
it'd be better to buy the arcade and swap the hard disk.

Half the time walmart wont even check inside the box.

Your just assuming the RROD is inevitable, It might not happen, I'd quit worrying and just play it.

Just fix it yourself when it happens

Its easy to do and takes about half an hour!

What are you talking about. When something like an Xbox gets returned, of course they check it out. It isn't something simple like a shirt.

Ya they check, depending on the reason you telling them you are returning it.

Well RRODs are inevitable, because we're not limiting the time frame to "RROD in 2 years" or anything.

So, Quantum Theory says RRODs are inevitable =P

its called the swticharoo and if you do that go when there really busy, beucaes they most likely wont check if there's a lot of people

Erm... technically, couldn't you just buy an Arcade, keep it, put your RROD console in the box the Arcade came in, and return that to Wal-Mart? It's not like the people at customer service are gonna plug it in and see whats wrong with it. You can just say you bought it for your nephew and he actually wanted a Wii.

They take it out the box and inspect the contents actually so I would suggest doing a case swap before you try that, especially if your 360 is dingy or something lol.

They match the serial numbers as well.

I get payed to swap consoles. From my experiences, they only check serial numbers (box matches with console), condition, and if everything is there. That's it.
