George Santos pleads guilty

The sixth ever member to be expelled from the house of representatives admitted to a number of offenses today including aggravated identity theft and faces at least 2 years in prison and some 400,000 USD in restitution.

The freshman Republican congressman broke headlines when he was found to have lied about much of his past, including fabricating grandparents that supposedly survived the Holocaust. He is not Jewish.

He infamously survived an earlier expulsion attempt during a Congress that was remarkable for razor thin Republican margins - however Republicans came to his aid at that time.

This will probably not be the last we hear of Mr Santos.

Have to be thankful many people did digging into Santos when he first got elected to the house of representatives. Something really seemed off about him. Just my two cents.

Mandatory minimum of two years and maximum of 22, per the DOJ. Very unlikely he will serve that maximum, of course.
