Of course it does, who uses a custom firmware for anything but pirating games. And if he was so happy about buying games at all why would he get so worked up over it?
Except he's clearly not pirating games for the system right now, as it's impossible.

Use fucking logic.

So? Would you spend a cent on games if there was a possibility you could get them for free? Unlikely.

Hmm maybe you should, I don't know... BUY YOUR OWN GAMES! I don't understand pirates like you, you feel you're so entitled to everything but don't want to spend a cent...
>implying he doesn't buy games
>pirating games for the system is impossible

I'm not quite sure what you aren't getting here.
You're also assuming I believe that it IS possible for anyone to be able to pirate games on the ps3, which is pretty much all your argument is based on. He's on a forum that talks about nintendo game releases... For all you know, he could widely pirate wii and ds games. Which makes my argument valid.

On the contrary, this site has other sections that aren't devoted to Nintendo.
Which makes your argument, invalid.

Except if he owns a PS3, he probably has some PS3 games

Maybe your poor grasp on the English language has caused a chasm in my understanding, but I have to wonder if there is something wrong with you.

I didn't say it didn't...

Oh Urza, forgive me for not realizing that it is mandatory for someone to purchase a game with the console they've bought... How could I have over looked such a thing. To think that I didn't realize you have to because you have a console, such an unfortunate misjudgement.

Anyway, back on topic...
So why does it seem that people believe geohot is trolling based solely on him not releasing the ps3 cfw?

Nobody said he trolled. They're just assuming he's lying because he just did the same for that console. Typical human psychology.

You didn't?

Your sarcasm amuses me.
Who would buy a useless console?
Why buy a PS3 simply for Blue-ray and not games also?

This back and forth debate isn't tiring either of you out?
One wishes to simply be right and the other is trying to bring common sense to fall upon deaf ears.
I don't think people would buy something as expensive as a PS3 and not buy games for it.
Can we just leave it be at that?

That makes a lot of fucking sense.

I didn't say it is the most logical; you've just assumed that. You sure like to assume a lot of things. But yes, I know a guy who has 3 different ps3's just to watch blu-rays on. Because they're region locked. He's clearly a pirate, on a pirate forum, so there is no doubt that he doesn't buy games all the time.

You're clearly on the wrong, Phoenix and Urza proved it in many ways, so stop fighting. Break this up, this is completely off-topic.
They haven't proven anything. Until he replies back with a photo of his collection of ps3 games, it is still possible he's a filthy pirate.

And you are not assuming in this case?
Isn't, "A guy I know only has a PS3 for blu-rays, so this guy probably does too" an assumption?
As well as, "He may be a filthy pirate." an assumption?
This entire argument is futile.
It's best to drop it and agree that you two share two different opinions and to each his own.
Otherwise, it's back and forth until a mod gets involved.

QUOTE(Maz7006 @ Jul 12 2010, 10:36 AM) sort of what he did to PS3, just proof of concept and basically like Viagra for his e-penis.
You've got to remember that this is this man's hobby, and like most people who have hobbies, likes to show off his work. But then most people with hobbies also don't get into sharing diagrams, schematics, source code etc. because they do it for themselves. There's also the small fact that releasing cracks could get him into a LOT of trouble. I don't think it's worth risking years in prison or heavy fines just because some kids with enough money for an iphone don't want to pay 99p for a game.
So if you care this much about jailbreaking the iphone, go to university, learn about electronics, computer systems and cryptography, spend many years becoming an expert in your field and then you can jailbreak it yourself. Until then, stop complaining because he's under no obligation to share his work.

If he didn't want to risk trouble, why announce it and risk it anyway?
That defeats the purpose.
He may be under no obligation, but there's no point in showing it if it's just to say, "Look what I can do!"

So, yeah, as a matter of fact, he's just a show-off.
